can my diabetic cat have benadryl?? She has a puffy eyelid & she keeps itching it.
No, no discharge. Great idea on using the multi purpose solution!! I actually use it myself when my allergies act up & my eyes get itchy! It never occured to me to use it in her! Thank You for the advice!!No. Benadryl from what the vet told me is not effective on cats and there is probably sugar in it too.
Is there any discharge from the eye? What I would do until you can get to the vet is to swab it with a cotton ball soaked in Multi-Purpose Solution like you would use for a human eye wash or contact lenses. Use as often as needed to try to relieve the irritation. The product is a benign product that shouldn't exacerbate the issue.
I'm curious. What is your source for this statement?Actually, antihistamines can cause the kidneys to shut down. They are highly dangerous. I
Actually, antihistamines can cause the kidneys to shut down. They are highly dangerous. I would consult my vet before administering any acroo the counter medication. Good luck from Jane and Stewey
Here's one of the web sites I found when I Googled Benedryl for cats: http://www.safetymedical.net/benadryl-for-catsI've given my dogs Benadryl in the past, in fact last year I showed my Vet this chart which I printed out http://www.anydogrescue.org/benadryl-for-dogs/ and she said that this is accurate, although not to give too much Benadryl, but rather get an appropriate medication if you can, so I would assume so with cats but I am not 100%.
