Posted in honeymooners may have been wrong form. BeeGee has been off insulin for about a month her BG around 80-90 most of the time and under 130 She had been on Prozinc. Hour 3 this am she tested 185 hour 4 BG 184 gave her a scant .5 of insulin before her noon meal. Not sure how to deal with this, hope someone can advise.

What you did was perfect - just get a few tests in to see how she utilizes the insulin and whether she starts down lower than you want. Some cats fall out of remission and get a few "boosters" to get back. Sometimes stress or an infection or even something other than low carb food can throw them off.

Pam,
Was BeeGee ever prone to pancreatitis? Or have any possible dental issues? Either can cause an increase in BG short term.

Thanks for the prompt replies. BeeGee has no health issues we are aware of , she is 11 years old. A few minutes ago she started running through the house and growling which caused me to test her BG. Just over 1 hour after meal and insulin she is at 107

Much nicer. How long since the shot? That was noon your time, so about an hour give or take? If so, that would seem to show "self-regulating" rather than the prozinc kicking in that fast. A test in an hour would probably be a good idea and you may need to give her a snack if she's lower.

+7 just tested we are at 84 now Will test at+10 which will be her dinner hour and also Prozinc nadir

100 points in 3 hours.... I think I'd squeeze another test in between now and nadir?

Just tested we are at nadir and a good healthy 71, yea. Going for dinner. Thanks for all your help sure is nice to have a friend when you need one! Wonder what caused the spike? confused_cat

Sure is a pain in some part of the body when they seem to be OTJ then for no reason dive right back in, just being cats I guess.
