Mel, he doesn't have the typical Siamese coat. It's the most unique texture I have ever come across - plush, but not soft. It actually feels coarse, which I thought was from living outdoors when I caught him, but it has never gone away or gotten softer. It is really velvety around his face and ears and under his chin THOUGH (Oh, Jeddie stepped on the caps lock... ). Jeddie is really silky, as is my other long-hair. And Leanne is so satiny that she slides off when I pick her up, especially if I am wearing fleece.
Vicky, I used to think you could never have two (or more) males as indoor cats together. We had brothers when I was growing up and they fought all the time until one of them ran away. But I had a neighbor that had two males, then found two male kittens in then alley, then another make kitten... he had five boys all in a small two-bedroom condo and they got along - with some minor altercations. I guess I didn't really consider that getting Jeddie would not "work" because of Beau. I probably should have, but I just wanted to keep Jeddie from being PTS. It did take a while for them to really warm up to each other to be grooming and cuddling like this - over a year, at least. I think in some way that Beau has transferred his need for a close buddy from Charlotte since she died - and before her, from Murphy. He seems really happy now and makes chirpy noises at the other cats and plays and cuddles with them. I think it is the happiest he has been in about 5 years since before Murphy got sick. I wonder how much her illness and death stressed him into FD.
