So I was able to pick up Sub-Q fluids from the Vet and Bear was able to have some this evening.
It seemed to make a positive difference in his demeanor, he was following me around quite a bit wanting to be held.
Bear has still been vomiting his food and 15 minutes after I gave him both anti-nausea meds this evening he threw up. I have no idea how much of the meds he metabolized but here's hoping for the best.
His appy has improved this evening and he ate a small amount of his favorite Country Style Dinner with lots of chicken crumbles on top about 30 minutes ago and so far he has kept it on board.
He has toothpaste like diarrhea, I will definitely try to get some meds for that at Friday's Vet appt.
I really appreciate all the support Bear and I have received last night into this morning.

Thank you all! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I will go over all the new info on helping kitties with poor appetites and look into getting some of the different foods Bear can try. :)

It would seem when Bear vomited he lost his anti-nausea meds.
We are up to 12 vomits in less than an hour.
I just gave him some more ondansetron for nausea.

Hi Lora, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with Bear. Poor baby must be feeling a bit rotten. And I'm sure you are exhausted!
Do you have HC wet to give him tonight? And will he eat it?

I am back to 16.6% HC kibble.
After vomiting that much he wouldn't touch his wet.
He ate one tblsp.
Edited 1/2 Tblsp

I think at this point, what ever he'll eat is ok.
I think it might be worth going back to the vet and getting another IMI cerenia to get him over the hump if he is continuing to vomit.

Is that mean the injection?
I got two more pill Cerenia today.
Sorry yes. IMI means an injection. It would mean that he could have the injection and even if he vomited he wouldn't lose the dose of cerenia and I think the IMI dose lasts 24 hours. I think it would be very worth while to do it.

His mouth was being overcome with saliva.
He kept making small gulping sounds as he swallowed, then he had a small vomit.
Now he is drinking water.

Oh poor boy. How unpleasant for him.
How long ago did he get the ondansetron and did he manage to keep it down long enough to be absorbed?
I have no idea what the time is where you are, but can you take him to a vet to get an injection of cerenia or is it the middle of the night?

It's 4:13 AM
Haha! Ok. So not a good idea at the moment..:(
But I would really think about it for tomorrow. I'm sure the vet would be agreeable to giving an injection of cerenia if he is still vomiting. After all that is what it is for. And being a diabetic and history of DKA it is very important to get him eating again......and it is very hard to eat if you are nauseated!

I wish our Vet wasn't on vacation.
We work well together.
The other Vet in office is a mystery and she is swamped tomorrow covering her patients and our vets.

When Bear had DKA and I was syringe feeding him the Vet recommended a feeding tube but by the next day Bear had started eating on his own.

I think in this situation a feeding tube is probably what he needs at this point.

Bear was so weak when he had DKA he didn't put up much of a fuss with the syringe.
That is not the case now.

Sorry just got distracted. I had forgotten to put the potato bake away in the frig and found Harry had got up and taken a big chunk and was eating it......my concern is it had onion in it! I hope he didn't get too much onion.

I think the other vet needs to put you in as a priority because of the diabetes, DKA and vomiting. I think if you can get rid of the nausea he would probably eat.

What time is it there, Dinner time?

Drooling could be from the Cerenia.
Possible side effects include vomiting, lethargy, diarrhoea, anorexia, twitching and drooling.

Are you using capsules to give the meds?

Drooling
Excess stomach acid
Mouth ulcers
Dental problems
Side effect of capromorelin (Entyce)
Side effect of Cerenia

I agree. He needs a shot since he can't keep it down. I would also ask them to give IV fluids.

I am almost wondering if he has stomach acid more than nausea. Have you tried slippery elm bark? Zantac or Pepcid?

Poor guy. My heart aches for you and Bear :bighug::bighug:

No, using my finger followed by syringing water in the corner of his mouth

He has always had excess stomach acid.
Max he can go without food on his stomach is 6 hours otherwise he vomits.

Started him on Sub-Q fluids last night 7Pm.
I never tried anything for his acid, just made dang sure he had food on board every 4 to 6 hours.

No worries Bron I can handle Bear Bear.
Ithink this is our 6th or 7th rodeo.
Thank you for keeping us company, yet again. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Hopefully @Bobbie And Bubba and @Gill & George will be along before too long.
Just keep doing what you have been doing. You are handling a very difficult situation very very well.
I hope you can get some sleep at some point.
Try and get a cerenia injection in the morning or sometime during the day if you can. I hope Bear improves today....sending many strong Ozzie vines

If you take him to the vet office for a shot.. pick up couple cans of Hills a/d. It is a little higher carb (I think like 16%) but it has lots of calories. It was my go to when Gizmo would quit eating. I am worried Bear isn't getting enough calories and water and thst can lead to DKA.

I know he isn't getting enough calories and on the inside I am getting close to full blown panic.
Water he drinks a lot plus with IV fluids both together are comforting.
