Baytril, Orbax, Zeniquin antibiotics for cats

I am running out of Baytril for Ketchie, but have some Zeniquin (four pills) and Orbax (several pills) and wondered if anyone has used these as broad spectrum drugs for their cats, in place of Baytril?

Both the Zeniquin and Orbax are about 2 years old, but my pharmacist and vet both said abs can last pretty long. The only one you HAVE to throw away is DOXYCYCLINE, as that becomes toxic when it reaches its expiration date.

Thanks for any info if anyone cares to share their opinions or knowledge.

Ketchie had her dental two weeks ago. The vet wanted to give her the shot of Convenia, but I refused that, since she has so many other health problems, and cancer (on her outside) and she is going on 18 years old.

Oh, yes, but I can't afford any more at this point. They have been trying to keep costs down for me, but taking in Ketchie four times in the past week and a half, has been cost prohibitive.

Thanks, BJ. I just wondered if anyone ever used these other two abs. I have, but not sure I wanted to use a zeniquin one day, then a Baytril the next. I have about 20 Baytril that are over two years old, but didn't know if I should use them that old. On the pill bottle, the vet wrote the exp. for the baytril as 2 years from now.
 
It won't work to mix partial amounts of antibiotics if they work on different types of bacteria (gram-negative, gram-positive, broad vs narrow spectrum, and so on.)

Some antibiotics are available from Giant Eagle (or other grocery/pharmacy stores) for $4 for a 1 month supply and some may be free (Giant Eagle has a program like that). Check these out, then see if the vet could send the Rx there.
 
Thanks for the info, BJ. Trouble is, Baytril is vet meds only. I have enough to get through Christmas day, and a few older Baytril that the vet said should be okay to use in between the new stuff.

All three antibiotics are in the quinolone class of antibiotics. I have used both Zeniquine and Baytril for the same problem. I have not have any experience with Orbax.

Orbax is for:
Indications

Skin infections (wounds and abscesses) in cats*3
Skin and soft tissue infections (wounds and abscesses) and urinary tract infections (cystitis) in dogs*4
*Caused by susceptible strains of bacteria as listed in approved indications.

Thanks, Larry. I have used Orbax as well as the other two, and it seems to work as well.

Since all three are in that same quinolone family, they are pretty broad spectrum drugs, so I guess if I need to, I will use the other two if necessary.
