Bayer Contour Test Strips

I am using the Bayer contour for Rusty, and the 1st time I bought the strips they cost me about $70 for 50 strips at CVS. I went on the Bayer website and they have a discount program for the strips. I can't remember the exact name of it, but anyways, you filled out your info and print out what looks like a prescription card that is supposed to make it $15.00 for test strips. I took it to CVS and they wouldnt give me the discount without a prescription. Walmart also said the same thing. My question is-If I get my vet to give me a prescription will CVS or Walmart fill a prescription written by a vet?
 
hmmmm, i think maybe you could call another cvs in the area and ask them first. that is alot of money for contour strips. i buy mine on ebay.
 
btw, if you can find whatever it was you filled out and link it to me i could use it to buy strips for newbie kits. i never get them at that price!
 
yes, they will take a script from the vet. i get 90% of my kitties' meds at walmart actually and they are called in by my vet and one kitty's cardiologist.
 
I read the offer a bit differently. I think it simply helps pay towards your copay for the strips. If your cat doesn't have insurance, I'm not sure that it will pay anything.

I'd be curious to hear from anyone using this program. How much do strips typically cost you? Like Lori, I get strips for my Contour (and Contour TS) from Ebay. My cost per strip varies, but is usually between 15 and 30 cents each.
 
Thank YOU Michele, that little catnip toy sits on top of the rice sock for a reason :lol: ....don't want kitty's freakin out when you want to put it on their ear!
Now I read it as a co-pay too....I also read (which I found irritating) that you can purchase your $15 dollar test strips each time you visit the pharmacy with a prescription! last I knew I did NOT need a script to buy test strips...perhaps they mean every time you fill your insulin script or...I don't know but I will be inquireing at my CVS.
If its' true it's the best deal I've ever seen. :-D And I'll ONLY reccomend contour after THAT!

Also wanted to thank you for my newbie kit, Rusty is doing a lot better now and he LOVES the rice sockie you put in. When I opened that package, you should have seen all the kitties gathered around having to check everything out. Thanks for all you do! :smile:

If I can ever get some spare time, I would be willing to make you some rice sockies for the newbie kits too. I work this weekend but have a few days off next week, I might try to whip out a few and send to you Lori. Karen, what is the material you use for them? The one I got is kind of a denim blue colored, but maybe a cotton knit?
 
awwww, michele that is really nice of you. the key thing is to have small grain rice. i once got a bag of sockie's that were so hard and loud and crunchie...i cut one open and it had really hard long grain rice.
you can also (if your lazy like me) get some baby socks and a bit of very thin ribbon...fill the sock just enouph and then tie a ribbon round the ankle part.
AND>>>> we could use some more catnip squares if anyone has the inclination. i think mel (momma of muse) was supposed to send some a few months back. i'll ask her about that.
i mean really,,,,what's a kit without a catnip toy? worthless as far as the kitty is concerned cat(2)_steam

Uhhhh...keep the catnip out of the rice socks.

Remember, you heat rice-socks in the microwave and I don't think catnip would survive that...
might even catch on fire.
