Bayer contour meter vs. bayer ascensia contour

Does anyone know are these the same meter? Do they use the same test strips? I have one of each (they look different) and now I'm not sure if I'm using the right test strips.

I have a Bayer Ascensia Contour meter, of the older model (2007) and would like to think they are the same. I'll see if I can get a pick up of mine.

Here is what the Bayer Ascensia Contour I use, from 2007, looks like. And the strips haven't changed, it is just the can that they re-made. http://felinediseases.weebly.com/diabetesdka.html


The old can of strips was called Microfill and the new can if strips is called Contour, but it is the same strips inside.

Hmmn, I am not so sure I would use the same strips for each meter. I used to use the Ascensia Contour meter then they changed it to the Ascensia Microfill like Ann said, and I believe when they upgraded the meter from a 30 second countdown, then to a 15 second countdown, and then finally to a five second countdown which is the latest model. They then changed the name to just the Contour but you can still buy the older Ascensia Contour model.

It also says right on the box the Contour strips come in that they are not to be used with any test strip other than Bayer's Contour test strips. Do you have control solution that you can test each meter with?

Also, usually you can get a free Contour meter from Bayer if you go to their website. I believe it comes with 10 strips. Or you can sometimes get a free meter at Hocks.com or AmericanDiabetesWholesale.com if you purchase 50 test strips, or something like that.

Anyway, that would be my take on it.

i just called 1-800-348-8100 that i found on bayer's website and asked them if the bayer contour and the ascensia contour are the same meter and the guy said yes. i also asked if i could use the same strips in both meters and he said yes.

Thanks for calling them and for all the good info. I think I will get a third meter (the relion) just for peace o' mind!
