I am a little freaked out right now. I think I just gave Baxter to much insulin.
PMPS 7:00-166-.25u-40
I honestly not sure what the heck I was thinking.....well I wasn't to be doing this. ohmygod_smile
He is on Clavamox for a UTI. His numbers have been a little higher lately.

Someone please help me with some comforting words or something.
I know I could have a long night ahead of me. I'm stocked on supplies & have Kyro.

Baxter SS is updated.
Thank you.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

I think the amount isn't bad - you have shot similar doses. The thing that makes me a little nervous, Jenn, is it looks like he was headed down, not up.

So yes, I think you are going to have to keep an eye on him tonight. But you can manage lower numbers, if you get them, with the gravy off high carb foods and honey if you have to.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

On 1/26 you shot .25u into a 182 and he did fine.

We are here if you need us. Please let us know what your next test is.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

You shot .25 into a 172 on Jan 31st. It looks like that cycle went okay. There are other cycles that also appear close, like 1/26 where you shot .25 into a 182 and 1/25 you shot it into a 172. Given the 20 percent meter variance ...these are very close cycles to what you had tonight. I think you should be okay. Just test-- you are prepared. The scary thing about low numbers is when you are not testing or prepared!

Edit to add....on 1/24 you shot .25 into 152 and the cycle remained flat. Breathe!

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

The thing is that I knew he was headed down from 3:00@ 188, but still gave him insulin.
I am so damn stupid! How could I do this? I swear some days it's like the first day all over again. I feel like I don't know what the heck I am doing. His #s have been wacked out at times. I haven't been giving him a consistent dose. Because he is all over the map.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

I think you've done a great job with the mini doses, Jenn. They're hard - it's a new decision each time. Not like you can pick a dose and hold it for a week......

I think he should be fine, but if he dips low, you know how to bring him back up.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

Ok you are all right....I have given him .25 on other occasions with lower #s. At those times I knew he was headed up. Tonight he was down. Also, I don't know how much Claramox plays a role in BG #s if any.

Sue you are right I have got myself prepared for a hypo situation. I always read all the 911s to get educated.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

I have given Clavamox and seen no role in it driving BGs down. In fact, I would think with the infection in play, that you would have more reason to expect to see higher numbers.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

Jenn
The only effect clavomox would have is to lower the BG a bit, but ONLY if it is making the infection go away. That shouldn't happen in a single cycle, right? The infection would push his numbers up, and keep them up until the infection clears.

You can keep him up with food. Low carb unless he goes way low, then the high carb gravy, karo, whatever. If he acts like he's starving, he's telling you he feels low. Test him to see how low, then choose the best food for that number. Don't overfeed, because if he does go low, you want him to have room in his tummy.

You're good here. You know what to do, and somebody will stay with you as long as you need someone to stay with you. Breathe, hon. It's all good.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

Has anyone told each one of you recently how great you are? I am starting to feel better. I keep going to check on him. I comb him & tell him I love him. Next check in is test time. So I will post a # soon.

He started the Claramox yesterday... So just 3 doses are in his system.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

So far so good....we are @ 163 so no change in 3 hours with .25.

I will be testing again soon.

Right now he is in trouble. He went outside with DH while DH went across the street DC (darling cat) decided he was going acroos the street too, but to different neighbors house. :o I happened to go outside just as DH was walking over to the neighbors to get him. I walked overt there & in my mean voice I said "Baxter get home". He took off running home... bcatrun_gif he knew he was in trouble. I was right behind him telling him he better not do that again. Oh DH is also in trouble for not watching him.

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

That seems like a nice safe number, Jenn. You should be fine. You can always set the alarm for +6 if you are worried.

Baxter,, stay home and out of trouble!

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

Thank you Sue. I will set the alarm. Most likely I will still be up.

I think we are going to be ok too. (I just knocked on top of the desk)

Re: Baxter~Adminster to much insulin?

Baxter's BG never really moved. +6@165
AMPS-8:00am-203

This morning Baxter is in hiding. There are thunderstorms in Htown grumpy_cat . He won't eat his breakfast, so I didn't give him insulin or Claramox. I will pick up the schedule @ 7pm.

Wow, a pretty flat cycle overnight, but "good flat". He stayed in nice low numbers.

Well his PMPS was 293 which isn't surprising. He didn't get insulin this morning.
He came out of hiding around 1:00pm. He ate a little food, but I didn't want to give him insulin at that time. I waited until 7:00pm to feed again & shot.
+6-177 with 1.0.
