Basil, PreDental Day: AM+4=166, +7=92

Basil gave us a kind of ugly 166 at Breakfast +4 and was down to 92 at +7. Tomorrow morning, the dental day begins and I do hate not feeding him after midnight. And I am steeling myself to a week or two of more high BGs but after that, he had better be back on the straight and narrow! ;)

I am a little concerned. It always makes me nervous when one of the pets has to have anesthesia. Sigh.
 
Just remember all of the usual stuff:
  • No Metacam and no Convenia.
  • Make sure there are post-procedure x-rays if there are any extractions.
  • Pain meds, like bupe are essential if there are extractions.
  • bring some LC food with you in case your vet wants to feed after the procedure
  • feed in small amounts after Basil is home. You want to avoid scarf-and-barf.
  • Some cats get agitated from the meds. A quiet room with low light can help.

Basil did well during his dental and we can pick him up in about 3 hours. He will be coming home with Clavamox, bupe and three fewer teeth. :( Now he has 24 instead of his original 30.

The other animals are both a little on edge without Basil around.

Thank you, Dyana, but I cannot tell a lie--my son took most of those and he is a professional movie maker. I forgot I even had that link. Thanks for reminding me. And I see I really should update my profile.
