Hi everybody. Happy St Patrick's Day. I know its been a super long time since I was last here and I'm way over due with a family update so here goes. Where to begin? The last few months have been incredibly busy.

So let's start with the biggest and most exciting news. There has been a new addition to team Tori. On March 12th I became a nana again. Her name is Patience Naikola and she weighed in at 7 Lbs 10 Oz. She is my son Daniel's daughter. They had been planning to to have a home birth but after over 24 hours of active labour they went to the hospital for an epidural and 4 hours later she finally arrived. Poor Kina was kind of upset with that because being a midwife herself she was convinced that her labour would be something she could handle easily. Personally I was just as glad that she had the babe in hospital. Anyway they are both doing well. I was very surprised when the hospital let them bring the placenta home. Kina dehydrated it and has made it into a powder that she is now taking to help with the postpartum period. What a shock when I opened the fridge door and saw it sitting there and even more of a shock when I found it in my oven dehydrating.

Daniel is over the moon with his baby. Her birth has given him the boost he needed although it still was not really advisable them having a baby due to his condition. Patience has a 50% chance of developing Ehler's Danlos as well. He now has to use a can whenever he leaves the house and still has a lot of pain. We are still waiting to get an official diagnosis for him even thought every body agrees. The fact that the first genetisist doesn't believe The Syndrome exists means he has to see another one and thus and other 3 month wait. Then hopefully he can get on the medicinal cannibas program and get on AHSIS.

Heather has been going through one crisis after the other and has really had a rough time. A lot of my energy has been spent trying to keep her afloat. Ayanna is thriving though thank God. SHe will be 5 next month and will start kindergarten in the fall.

My kitties are doing OK. Rocky will be 15 in May and still acts and looks much younger. He is my cuddle bunny. Malachi was diagnosed with Asthma a couple of months ago and is now on FLovent inhaler. He is not easy to medicate to put it mildly. It's a 2 person job. I think part of the problem is the areochamber they gave me to use. I'm hoping to get an Aerokat for him soon once I have the extra funds. Things have been very tight with everything that has been going on with Heather.

As for me I just keep on truckin. I'm still full time nights at the hospital and dream of retirement which seems to be getting farther away instead of closer. The last few weeks have been really rough for me. Today marks a year since Tori went to the Bridge and The anniversary has been very hard. God I miss her so much. Sometimes I think that the deep pain will never go away. Most of the time it is a bit better but sometimes still I find myself crying my heart out. I know she wouldn't want this for me. I can see her watching me going "Oh Mom just get on with it. Enough already." I bet tonight there is a special dinner going on at the Bridge for her with all our special GAs there. I know she's happy and well again but dam it I just miss her so much. Ayanna misses her a lot still too. Every once in a while she will look at me and say "I miss Tori." Then we will hug each other and tell stories of our special girl. We both still dream of getting another girl kitty someday. The rest of the family is very against it but one day I will.

So that is all my news. I hope things are going well for all of you and your beautiful babies. I love you all and have really missed you.

((((Barb))))
I've missed hearing from you!! I'm so happy for your new addition. A new baby is certainly a reason to celebrate. It's also a day to celebrate Tori's life and all of the wonderful memories. She clearly lives in your heart and Ayanna's and can never be truly gone.

(((Barb)))) I'm so glad you did a condo today. We all remember Tori today and celebrate the wonderful warrier Princess in her. She will always be with you and she will always be a much loved LL legend.

Congrats on your new grandbaby. I'm so happy this has been such a wonderful thing for Daniel.

Sending Heather peace vines.....I hope things will improve for her.

Hang in there...time passes much too quickly and before you know it, retirement will loom right in front of you.

We miss you!!! Thank you for stopping in to see us and visit our kitties.

Re: Barb and Tori Family Update- New Addition + Remebering T

Barb, congrats on your new granddaughter! And please give our best wishes to Daniel and Kina.
I know how much you and Ayanna miss Tori. But she is there, watching over you, and I'm sure that she loves it when Ayanna reads the bedtime story to Malachai and Rocky. It is, of course, for her, too.
Thinking of you all on this anniversary. I like to think that Chef Stu has prepared a special anniversary dinner for Tori at the Bridge and that all of our GA kitties are gathered around the table, remembering their beloved beans.

Many hugs to you and your family. Don't be a stranger!

Ella & Rusty

Barb - it is wonderful to hear from you! I hope you are well.

Congrats on the new addition to the family - how wonderfully exciting for you. I hope they are enjoying being parents. What a joy it all is.

I wish the best for Daniel. I think of you, and him and your family all the time, wonder how things are for Daniel. One can hope that his illness will finally be recognized for what it is, and he can get into the programs he needs. My prayers are with him.

I too hope things get better for heather.

and kindergarten for Ayanna - oh my how times fly. your little one is growing up. :-D

I know in my heart that Tori has never left you, she is there watching over you, staying close. She will continue to help you get through those moments when remembering is just too painful. She was one special kitty, one I will never forget. I have this huge smile on my face, thinking of the BIG party going on at the bridge - no doubt with a cinnamon cake by master chef stu. I still remember that first cake... Stu and Mannie, and all for Tori. What a great memory. I will think more of you tonight on this anniversary.

You take care - it is so wonderful to hear from you!

Re: Barb and Tori Family Update- New Addition + Remebering T

Thanks for posting this update, Barb.

Congratulations on your new grandchild. I hope that Patience (I love her name) brings not only her namesake virtue into all of your lives, but also much joy and happiness to all of you. Ayanna must be excited about her, and she will be a wonderful friend and playmate for her.

I know that Tori is watching out for you. I know she understands that you are having trouble with going on without her, but I think that she also sees that you have many other lives to care for and guide, and that she will stay quietly in your heart until you have those times when you just have to stop and remember her. When you need to remember her, she will be there for you.

Anniversaries are hard. I love the way Ayanna is dealing with Tori's loss. I think it is just perfect.

I was just thinking of you the other day, and wondering how you were doing, so I am glad that you stopped in with an update.
