Hello all - I'm wondering if there is someone out there in message board-land who would be willing to mentor me a bit/stick with me through a few weeks of tracking on my spreadsheet to guide me. I'm doing the best I can but I'm a little nervous that I'm being too conservative at times because Bailey had a hypo episode about a month ago. My tracker is updated in my signature. He's on Tiki food twice per day. 3 units of Lantus twice per day. No other health issues. No other meds (other than Zobaline added to food).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me, even if it's just for today.

Hello and welcome. There are two dosing methods here, Tight Regulation TR and Start Low Go Slow or SLGS. Read through the Sticky notes on each of them. Decide which you would like to follow, then put SLGS or TR in your subject line. Once you have done that, many people can help you follow the dosing methods.

My first point of advice is to keep consistent dosing, with the same dose AM and PM. You have had to skip doses, so I suspect that 3.0 may be a bit too high a dose. The dosing methods will guide you in that. Second suggestion, try getting a few more tests at night. Many cats go lower at night. We figure out the dose based on how low in takes a kitty, so we need to try to find those lows.

I'm already 2 1/2 hours past shot time at this point. I do work and I live by myself so sometimes it's hard to get the curve. I think I also need to get out of my head that I need to get a perfect curve or nothing other than shot-time testing. I can definitely get some random readings in each day, hopefully. I do need to get another curve in soon, though.

yes. tell yourself that any random test is good and pat yourself on the back for getting them.

I used to drink a big glass of water before bed so I'd have to get up during the pm cycle and would grab a test too, then right back to bed.
It's hard. We all know.

at night, try to get a +2 after the shot so you can see if there is an indication of a likely active cycle. ( if the +2 is a sizeable drop from the pmps, that can mean an active cycle where you need to monitor more frequently )
