Changed over to a new bottle of insulin 2 days ago yesterday's nadir was very high at 15.5 but much better readings today hoping it will settle down now.

Well hello Bailey in UK. You are a very handsome cat. Welcome to the relaxed forum. We look forward to getting to know you and watching your sugar dance.

....and trying to figure out what 15.5 means in our numbers.

Beautiful kitty! Welcome to you both.

Thanks

15.5 is 279 and we're back upto 257 today @ +6

Have just put up a new thread seeing if anyone can advise on whether we should be upping the dose we seem to be seeing a lot of fluctuation at the nadir.

Thanks again

This is where having those preshot values come in handy on being able to advice on dose changes. Plus we aren't entirely sure those tests you are getting are his true nadir. Nadir isn't a fixed point in time. It is simply the lowest point in the cycle.

I realize that you have limited time to test but a full curve on a day off would be extremely helpful to get an idea on what the next step in dosing is. Is it possible in the near future you can run a curve? (testing every two hours)

It's not just the nadir numbers that provide us much needed information. It's putting those numbers into context with other test numbers, especially the pre-shot tests to see how the cat is reacting.

Without those pre-shot tests, the mid-cycle tests really don't provide us enough information.

Hi Mel

Understand what you're saying and do find that the nadir fluctuates between +6 and +8 I would say.

Another curve is a good idea we'll try another one this weekend.

Thanks again for the continued support!
