Well, Meow was in remission for a whole year.

I was hoping someone could help me make a new SF?

I can home from a stay at the NICU with our newborn son and noticed Meow looking a bit leaner then before, a week later he looks skinny. I took his blood sugar and it was 19.4.

So, we are on the juice again. I am scared and sad and I dont know if I am up for the mental gymnastics having a SN child, a high needs newborn and a diabetic cat.

Sorry, whine over.

I am happy to be back here with you guys bc I know I will get all the support and advice I will ever need. But I am sad that we need to be here again.

Is there any chance he got dry high carb food while you were gone? That could explain the sudden higher numbers. If that is the case, sometimes returning to a wet low carb diet can bring the numbers back down.

I can help with the spreadsheet. Send me a private message.

You certainly have your hands full. Perhaps since his weight has been dropping, he has been on this path for a few weeks at least.
You might also want to re-evaluate what he is eating. Pet food companies change their formulas on us and his diet could be worse for him then it previously was.
Other possibilities are it is time for a dental, or he's brewing an infection.
Hugs!

Thank you for your replies.

Our vet did a gluco panel, urine test and thyriod. So any infections hopefully will be found.

I gave 1 IU of Lantus earlier. I am nervous using this insulin. Its new to us. We used it a couple times then he went OTJ.

Let's hope he gets regulated again fast. You may want to come over to the tight regulation board...http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewforum.php?f=9

My cat Tig fell off the wagon after three months OTJ and I think I wasn't aggressive enough at that point and he has been on the juice now for a year. I wish I had been more aggressive a year ago when his pancreas may have had some life in it.

You are just feeding the pâtés FF right? The Canadian pâtés are ok from what I have read, except I have no data on that new beef flavour so I haven't been feeding that as I wasnt sure. I use this list and if the name matches the US one here and its a pâté then I assume its ok..http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf

Sometimes, falling off of the OTJ wagon just happens no matter what you do. Stormy Blue was off the juice for four whole years after being on it for about 6 months.. and is back on now since around the first of February. NOTHING had changed here. His diet was very low carb canned, boiled chicken, and a small amount of Evo cat & kitten kibble. He is fairly healthy, (for a CRD patient who is 17 years old), and his medical check-up showed everything was fine... except his pancreas had just decided to up and stop working - again. So hang in there..
