I was in MI (again) last week for installation of new patio doors (and then staining and polyurethaning them), and burying Charlotte. I go up every Oct, but this was a working vacation and when I was done working, my sister and mom came up so no time to myself. But it was good getting things done and seeing them - and the colors were great, especially last weekend. Here are a couple of photos.

This one is a view from our house (family house left by our grandparents)

During the week we celebrated Jeddie's two year anniversary of joining the family and Beau's 12 year anniversary. I picked up J from a transport on the way up there in 2009 and caught Beau in the woods up there in 1999.

I gotta read and get caught up on everyone! Jeddie has been in steady numbers at PS. I need to update his SS and do a curve one of these days.
 
I so love the colors of Fall just wish it didn't hearld the coming of winter. <sigh> We don't get those beautiful colors out here in the Great Plains, I really miss that part of living back East. If you can find trees out here they are mostly likely to be evergreens that are being used as wind breaks on farms. Oh yeah we have those that people have in their yards but they never seem to get a chance to really turn colors before just falling off. :sad:

Man, if I didn't know Maxwell was a New Orleans fellow I would wonder if he and Jeddie were distant brothers, they look so much alike. :-D

Jeddie lived in MI, near Ann Arbor/Detroit AFTER being found as a tiny kitten under a dumpster with his siblings in TN, so who knows. There are a lot of ginger and white Maine Coons, or part MCs, that look like him.

I thought you liven in CO? I know what you mean about the evergreens being everywhere out there. There are lots of maples in MI and burning bushes in everyone's yards that are crimson right now. I wish I could capture the colors in yarn, but there is a luminosity that comes from the sun hitting the leaves that you just can't get in fiber dyes. That crimson red is almost florescent.
 
lol Before marrying Jon I was a gypsy, so far in 47 years I have lived in ... Florida (where I was born), Nebraska, Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado, Maryland, back to Colorado, North Carolina, and then finally back to Nebraska, to ironically marry the man that was my first love in High School. And thrown in those years was time spent living in France, Spain, England, Italy and Wales....And no I wasn't a military brat, just gypsy blood....lol.

Beautiful pictures! Our leaves haven't hit their peak yet here this fall, but they are not supposed to be as bright this year due to all the rain we've had.

Wow Mel, you sure have lived in a lot of places!!!
 
Beautiful pictures Sheila! The one by the river looks a lot like it here along our river that goes through town. I love this time of year! But then, of course, we know what comes next. :YMSIGH: Love the cuddling kitties too - Jeddie's foot on top of Beau. LOL
 
Beautiful pictures. I miss the various colours of autumn and changes of the seasons. Autumn is the time I miss home the most. Will be having another Thanksgiving and Christmas in the desert.
 
I don't know how I would do without seasonal changes. I love the fall when the days are sunny and crisp and the trees are changing (unlike today where it has been windy, spitting rain and about 48 degrees - brrrrr).

I love that Beau and Jeddie are buddies. They weren't at first. No fighting or anything, just sort of ignored each other. I had told Beau he was getting a "brother", but he could have cared less. Well, Beau was clearly jealous of Jeddie getting all the "attention" of testing and such (he had just gone OTJ when I got Jed). About a year ago they started becoming pals. Last night I woke up and they were sleeping face to face right next to me. Soon after I was able to take the photo that is my avatar. For the first year I had one that was split with Beau on one side and Jeddie on the other.
