I'm back from my trip yesterday and it looks like Chicken Little did pretty good in my absence! :o We left on Thursday so CL did get a shot of insulin on Thursday morning however until Sunday she did not get any of her shots. The pet sitter could not get her hands on her to give her a injection. Every time the sitter came in she ran and hid under the bed or in a closet. The first thing that I did was take her BG and she was in the 190's. I waited about 6 hours and took it again and she was still in the 190's so I fed her 1/2 can of Fancy Feast and then shot her with 1 unit of insulin. This morning when I took it she was still in the 190's so I fed her 1/2 can Fancy Feast and shot her with 1 unit of insulin. She seems happy we are back and all the 5 P's are in place! \M/ I left her with the Young Again dry food and I must say that her BG's are better on that dry Young Again than only Fancy Feast. She loves the food. Its going to be hard to get her off dry food again but it was worth it to see good 190 numbers than in the 400's like I was worried about. I'm real impressed by that food.
I'm more concerned with the drooler than the cat. He seems to be sick???? He is drinking a lot of water and he has thrown up a few times. He does not seem to feel good. He's drinking so much water that Im worried about dehydration. I guess Im going to wait a day or two and if he does not get better then I'll take him to the vets office. nailbite_smile Im worried about him! He;s not his perky self.

First, welcome back! Second, hoping you pupster is ok. CL did great! I am leaving for vacation on Friday for 8 whole days, but I have a veterinary assistant taking care of Simon twice a day for his insulin and she will test too! (Can you say JACKPOT???) And, she promised to stop by the house on her way back from work at 4 to do a quick check on him and then come back at 7 to give him his pmps test and his night shot. I am blessed! Nervous, you betcha, but still feeling pretty good about this trip considering we have not left him since his diagnosis.

YAY CL!

This was the first time that I left CL since we have had diabetes! Its been a year and a half since I went anywhere! I am so pleased that things went so well with her. You did hit the jackpot and I take it that Simon is not afraid of everyone like CL is?? I hope that you have a fantastic time on your 8 days! Thats nice - 8 days!! The drooler seems to be getting back to normal. Must have just been the upset of being left at home with 2 pet sitters!! Thanks all!

Simon is not afraid of anyone new. He went right to her when he met her and he climbed in to her lap and was purring. He is very trusting of anyone except little children which he checks them out for a while and then will go to them too..lol. I am blessed that he is not shy at all. This girl is a co-worker's niece and she lives 5 mins from here and works 10 mins from here so it is an ideal situation. She was looking to earn extra money and I needed someone who would be willing to test and follow the chart on dosing so I am so happy she took the job! Glad that CL did so well without insulin!!

How wonderful for you that you can leave him with someone you know and trust and not have to worry about him the whole time you are gone!!
Have a happy and safe vacation!
