B12 Question?

I'm wondering if those of you who give B12 might have a suggestion for me. I've used zobaline, but the cost of it in comparison to other brands is feeling too inflated these days. Is anyone using a different brand that they could recommend? And bonus points if it's a liquid or tasteless powder.
 
Is your cat currently having difficulty walking or are you giving b12 as a preventative
 
I've bought the human version of methyl cobalamin (no folate in it though). Look for 2500 mcg (=2.5 mg whereas Zobaline is 3 mg) and NOT the time release type. If it's unflavoured and not time release it'll be tasteless and will dissolve readily in water added to meals.

It doesn't seem to say time-release anywhere. So then the question is the dissolving part? Have you tried something like this and then just dissolved it and added it to food?

Time release versions say so on the label and have a hard coating on the tablet to slow the dissolving process. The unflavoured non-time release tablets dissolve very easily into pink fragments and are totally tasteless if the label doesn't say "flavoured". I add water to all Teasel's wet food meals so would just drop in a tablet and see it dissolve as I mixed it into his "stew".

I was giving these to Teasel "just in case". Luckily for me he's never shown any signs of neuropathy. It was interesting, though, when he was so sick in May/June that his blood work showed really good B12 levels. After that illness I stopped the B12 because I was being very judicious with any/all additions to his food. I even waited 5-6 weeks before adding the enzymes.
 
Unfortunately Sam shows neuropathy so easily. I was giving zobaline for awhile, but then I ran out. The vet gave me the other form of B12 to give him as injections because his levels were low with the pancreatitis. Lately with his numbers persisting in the mid yellows so much, it's back again so I need to get him on something soon. I'll give these a try and a if he won't take them, they would probably do me some good anyway. ;) Thanks for your help, Kris!
 
I’ve used a human form of methylb12 along with the Zobaline. I’ve read here that folate is necessary for proper absorption, so you may want to look into that. THIS is the one I used. It’s only 1500, so you’d need to give a couple to match Zobaline. I gave it just as an extra source to Colin. I kinda think a water soluble vit May be best in several smaller doses than all at once? I'm curious about this because the bottle of methyl B-12 we got for Victor doesn't say it's time-release anywhere on the label but the tablets do have a white coating, so I've just been crushing them underneath a spoon before putting it in his food, which we do add water to as well. Should we continue giving him the ones we have or should we try to find a different kind, like an unflavored sublingual version, or perhaps the one that @Sharon14 linked above?

Yours should be fine. As an experiment try putting one by itself in a bit of water. It should break up on its own within a few minutes. The time release type won't.
 
Other brands are fine, as long as you make absolutely sure it's Methyl B12 and not regular B12, and that it has no Xylitol (artificial sweetener), since it's toxic to cats and dogs. Methyl B12 is a water soluble vitamin, so I have found that putting it on a spoon and adding a bit of warm water makes it dissolve completely, and then it's easy to mix in the food.
