B-12 for neuropathy

Tuffy is having the leg problem and googled METHYLCOBALAMIN and some say it has helped with the problem. Anyone with experience with this?

Yes the Methyl B-12 will help with the neuropothy. It helped my Harley.

It takes a few weeks to start seeing some improvements but is well worth the wait. Make sure it is the Methyl B-12, it can be hard to find, look at health food stores or on the internet.

I'm sure others will be along soon to give you links to the best sites to get it online.

I would start it as soon as you can.

Yes, lots of people here use it: Neuropathy It helps alot, but in connection with lower blood glucose levels. Both work together to improve neuropathy.

Shakespeare has been on it for weeks, it has helped some, but on Monday he received the B-12 injection from the vet and that has worked so much better. If you dont want to go to the vet, I go to whole foods and buy mine there. be careful and read the ingredients. must not have sugar, sugar achohol, or the sugar that begins with an X, I am at work and do not have the name on me, sorry.

It worked for Houdini who was walking all the way back on his hocks. I've seen cats who's back legs were completly splayed out walk normally again. I got mine from Lifelink online..it's a little tiny pill that I mashed up into his food.

It's Xylitol. It's an artificial sweetener that can be toxic to dogs and cats. Tiny amounts of sugar are less dangerous than Xylitol.

That gorgeous orinch tabby in the neuropathy link that Sue gave her is my Rambo (GA). Most of us give between 3 and 5mg (3000 - 5000 mcg) per day, regardless of body size. Any excess is excreted in the urine, so no worries about overdosing. Remember - it's METHYL B12. Regular B12 has no effect on neuropathy.

It works best in conjunction with lowered/controlled BGs, of course.

Thanks all who replied. I will be picking some up today. Mashing the pill and putting it in food sounds good. That's if we can keep him out of the way long enough to get it in. We will increase the dose again starting today as we do not seem to be able to get him down into a good range with the glucose level.

Here is a link to the most commonly used brand around here. Contains no sugars or artificial sugars and is developed specifically for use in diabetic cats. Each pill is 3mg - so no crushing 3 pills to get the right dose.
