I'm not really happy with our auto feeder- it's Cat Mate and the problem might just be that it's too big (it does like 8 feedings). However it's very hard to get it set for an accurate time - we shoot for 2am but maybe it opens at 2:30 or 1:45 or something - very annoying. Any input on a better brand?

thanks - looks good - I guess it's ok with the wet food too since I'm only needing it for over night. The one we have was for going away and keeps the wet food fresh because it has ice packs under the food compartments - but we really don't use them at all right now. I'll look into getting this one.

I got little glass bowls that fit into each compartment and it was easier for Shadoe to get all the food instead of having to eat off plastic. She did have some issues with chin acne, and it's not great to use plastic feeding containers. The glass bowls also made it easier if I wanted to freeze portions of food.

We have the petsafe five compartment feeder and mocha does well with it .. But we only use it at this point on the day's we have to be away, not an every day/night thing.

Bandit thinks he's a raccoon, so we went through him ripping apart several feeders, including the Petsafe 5, until we settled on This One. I've had it for about 4-5 years now, and it's still going strong. I like that it has a voice recording and a compartment for an ice pack (for when I forget to freeze food). My boyfriend complains that it's difficult to learn how to program at first, but I never had a problem figuring it out. But I'm also handy with electronics. It's programmable by any round hour for up to 24 hrs. So if you want to program it for say, 2 am, you need to make sure you turn it on at the beginning of an hour (any hour), because if you turn it on 1:30, the first hr you could program it for would be 2:30, the next 3:30, etc.

It's plastic, too, and I make little tin-foil bowls to put the food in. Not because Bandit has a problem with feline acne, but because I'm lazy and don't want to take it apart to clean it every time.

Bandit is the only cat I've heard of here that destroyed the PetSafe, so if your cat is not super mischievous, then I wouldn't be concerned about that.

Anything with an LCD display wins me over... I like that yellow one! LOL Robbie is "Mr. Trouble" and he's already knocked the feeder on the floor 3 times in the middle of the night (waiting for it to open and not being happy it wouldn't I'm guessing) But I don't see him ripping it apart (although he's a HUGE plastic eater but mostly bags and strips of plastic) .. ok Why do I love him so much?
Thanks gang I'll look into these.

The reason this one was a winner with Bandit is because it's good and heavy, and the shape is too big for him to flip it over. He's gotten the feeder itself turned around in a circle, but he's never been able to flip it over, move the compartment forward with his paw or face, or rip the top off it.
