HI All
I have been really curious on what the curves looked like for Aurora that were done at the vet and I just got copies - looks like they only tested every 3 hours – I thought curves you test every 2?
I’m pretty sure these numbers would have been with the Alpha Track since that’s what she was pushing me to get for home use. I’m also sure that she didn’t eat when she was there. She held her bladder and didn’t make potty until she got home both times. I did send some dry food for them to give her as a snack but I’m pretty sure she didn’t touch anything.

3/31/17 Curve at vet when she was on 2 units 2x per day
9:45am – 362 mg/dl
12:00pm – 409 mg/dl
3:45pm – 324 mg/dl
5pm – 352 mg/dl

4/13/17 Curve at vet office on 3 units 2x per day
8:12am – 128 mg/dl
11am – 176 mg/dl
2pm – 217 mg/dl
5pm – 133 mg/dl
I know most of this information is kinda pointless now since it’s looking like her pancreas is working without insulin – I’m hoping for continued steady numbers since taking her off the dry food 2 days ago.

HI All

It is every 2 hours for 12 hours or every 3 hours for 18 hours. That is not a good curve because one was for 7 hours and one was for 9 hours. Plus, every cat gets stressed at the vet so the numbers are not true numbers.

I dropped her off at 8am both times and picked up at 5pm. I don't even know how to deal with the vet about this. They asked me today if I wanted to schedule the next curve apt - obviously the answer is NO!!! I paid an arm and a leg for these curves. Second, I don't even know how to tell her I am home testing and how to tell her if I would have continued to blindly shoot 3 units Aurora would have been dead this past weekend. Ugh, I hate confrontation....

Tell her that you saw Aurora's levels coming down as you reduced the dry food in her diet and that you were afraid she would go too low so you have learned how to test at home in order to keep Aurora safe and will do a curve if you see the need for one.

Yeah....I just kinda want to bring up that it was a bad idea for her to not have me test at home. Ok miss Aurora tonight is at 168 however she pigged out on breakfast and I also gave her raw this morning I came home to barf fest 2017 I suspect it's Aurora because there was a big mess on a blanket she usually sits on. Barf on hardwood floor multiple spots, barf in wok rug, and two small bile spit spots. They were both hungry for dinner and gobbled everything up.

Is that typical, that she goes all day without anything to eat?

Well, I feed them breakfast in the morning - and I make sure there is a good portion of wet food out before I leave the house which is about 20 minutes after they get fed. They're nibblers so with whatever I leave, they snack on that most of the day. I can't leave dry out anymore, just took Aurora off the dry completely. I make sure they have plenty to eat at night as well.

Just did a before bed check and she's 77 at +4.5
I wonder what drove her number higher for the PMBG before I fed her dinner?

Excited that you were home? Found a hidden leftover hard food snack? Called out for pizza? Wouldn't put anything past this wild tortie girl...
LOL yeah, maybe she ordered in some delivery! 1-800 while momma is out, girl wants to eat
Free side of sardines with every purchase :joyful::D
