yesterday

Felix (finally) had good numbers yesterday: a gentle surf through the afternoon, and then a long stroll on the beach not too far from the shore at night. Sure would like to see more of that.

Took Catherine to the vet this morning for a recheck to make sure her UTI has cleared up. They're rechecking some labs, too, to see if the UTI was affecting her kidney values. The doctor thinks it's unlikely, but it sure would be nice if her kidney disease isn't as advanced as they thought. They should be calling with results soon. Catherine was so good and calm at the vet and in the car.

Not too shabby, Felix! Hope you get some more nice cycles today, and sending lots of positive vines for good results for Catherine, she sounds like an absolute sweetheart

Yo Felix, mamma told me I could visit you, I must have just missed you in the lagoon...wanna try for later? Your pal, Mav

Mav, that sounds fun! Don't let your momma wear you out too much with playing with cat toys, so we can swim-n-surf for a long time. But first I want to spend a little more time hiding, because my momma had The Carrier out, and she even put one of my co-cats in it and took her out of the house!:stop:
Purrs,
Felix

+3=91:D

Poor Catherine still has a lot of bacteria and elevated WBCs, so now she'll be on Baytril for a couple weeks (she already had two weeks on Clavamox).:( Her bloodwork is similar to last time, and vet says this looks like a bladder infection, not a kidney infection.

Happy about Felix's cycle today. He snacked a little after +11, so the PMPS is probably food influenced.

When I got to the vet's office to pick up Catherine's Baytril, they had Orbax waiting for me. I read up on the two when I got home, and I think I'm glad she has Orbax instead. Catherine is the mildest, most patient girl, but the medicines taste icky and make her feel icky and she just doesn't understand why her momma is putting her through all this.

What a beautiful day today Felix!! Mama wants to see lots more just like it!!

Did they do a culture and sensitivity on Catherine?

Any time you're dealing with a UTI, it's best to get a C&S....that will tell them exactly which bacteria is causing it and which antibiotic is best at killing it off

Otherwise you could end up not only wasting time giving an AB that won't work, but by giving the wrong one, you kill off the "easy to kill" bugs, but leave the more resistant ones.

One of the reasons a lot of AB aren't working anymore is resistance....those bacteria adapt so that what might have killed them yesterday won't kill them today.

They did not do a C&S on Catherine. She said if the infection wasn't resolved by her two-week recheck, they'd recommend a C&S then. But she didn't mention it until she called me with results, after I got Catherine home; I suppose we'd both expected it to be cleared up. They did obtain the urine by cystocentesis, so I'm surprised she didn't suggest it when she called--I'd think they'd have enough of the sample on hand.
