Well, we are really concerned now. Sammy is up to 282, still feeling rough, and hiding in the closet. She ate not too bad last night, but is not eating today to speak of. She is whining like she is in pain. I am not expecting a call from the vet until late this afternoon ... so 5 hours from now.

I am thinking its pancreatitus, which from what I read is a really tough thing to deal with. Not sure how much we will feel good about putting her through if that is the case, being she is 15.

Prayers requested.

Linda

Blood work shows inflammatory process. Pancreatic tests not back yet. Going to get her some bupe. Pancreatitus is likely d/x.

He is going to give her a day or 2 with pain control before we consider prednisone.

He thinks bg #s are all stress/ pain reaction. Urine clear.

Damn lab tests are still not back. Grrrrr. She brought her BG down a bit on her own, so I am encouraged that her pancreas has not gone for a total crap out just yet.

He thinks that pain meds might have her in normal ranges within 4 hours. I sure hope he is right. She has her first dose of bupe on board now.

Sigh.

it usually works fairly fast in my cats. like under an hour. it lets them sleep comfortably. sending prayers for little Sammy that she feels better very soon. xoxoxoxox

well, I pulled out the #1, never fails, Sammy will eat no matter what meal and it worked. She shared a rotisserie chicken with me tonight. Got lots of food into her and also she had a good drink of water. (when in doubt, give them a Temptations treat or two.... terrible treats for cats, as a general rule but perfect if you are trying to get them to drink, because they are salty. That is what gets them so addicted, the salt. I call them Kitty Crack).

her sugars are still way up there, but she has only had bupe on board for a short while. i am going to leave her alone and let her rest, no more fussing tonight, and hope she feels better in the morning. I have given her kisses on the nose from you all, and she thanks you.

great Linda!
will look for your update tomorrow. lots of hugs from me & Tibbsy sends head butts and kisses.

hi kristin
bupe is buprenorphine. it is a pain medication that can be giving sub q (injected under the skin just like the insulin or it can be given orally with a syringe) it works very well for kitty pain.
