Sammy is suddenly not doing very well. She got quiet about 3 or 4 days ago. Not greeting us at the door looking for conversation and food. Appetite very poor. Spending the bulk of her time hiding and sleeping in my closet (exactly what Sylvester did, even llaying in the same place). So of course I grab her meter and test her.... 220.

I am not convinced I am looking at a cat that is falling off her remission. She is not drinking or eating much at all, which is of course the opposite of what you would expect to see in an uncontrolled diabetic. I think there is something else going on, probably an infection. I have a call in to the vet for an appt.

I'm with you. My bet is on infection probably a UTI. Keep us posted on how the vet appointment goes. We'll be sending tons of healing vines your way.

Gotta love vet bills. They gave her a pill, appetite stimulant. The drug cost was listed as $0.25. The fee to give her the oral medication was $14.90. Uh, HELL NO! they will never pill my cats again thank you very much. Hand the pill to me, I will do it myself. Went back and looked at last Sammy bill, they charged $22.45 to give an injection. Imagine if someone paid us for every shot we have given our sugar cats!

She is eating well now, so that is a good thing. I am out of strips, will get some in the AM.

That is exactly why I insist they just give me the meds and I give them. Its also why I take my meter with me if its one of my sugars going in. $10 for a single glucose check I think not!! I usually freak out the other clients at the vet clinic since the two main vets are Dr Tami a dear high school friend and her daughter Sam. Since they know me so well I come in and start rattling off the vitals...BGs, resp rate, blood pressure etc ...okay so it helps to also be a nonpracticing CVT (certified vet tech ) lol

Sorry to hear the Sammy is not feeling well. I hope it turns out to be something easy to treat and that she's back to her old self soon.
