Not sure where to post this; I will not be offended if you move it.

Care Credit has recently changed its rules. Supposedly they mailed out 2 notices regarding the changes. I didn't receive them.

It is important to know is that as of June 26, the Charge must be $200 or more, in order to get the Deferred Interest. ( I currently have 6).
All Charges LESS than the $200 will now be assessed 26.99% interest, if you don't pay it in full within 23 days from the date of the charge. So don't wait until your statement arrives to pay it in full.
In addition, you must continue to pay at least the minimum for the Deferred Interest loans you may have.
And most important of all, if you have deferred loans and also a "Pay in Full within 23 days of the charge", and you send payment for to cover the minimum on your deferred charges AND the full amount of the non-deferred charge, you MUST call Care Credit up and designate where you want you want your payment applied.

When talking to a Care Credit rep, I told them I thought Credit Rules had changed. She said they are a private company and they do not have to follow the rules. Time will tell, but for now BUYER BEWARE.

Hugs, Headbutts, and Healing,

Cat and my angel boy Sweet Max

Thanks for posting this.

You might check with your state's attorney general to see if that claim is in fact true.

Wow. I got a notice about a year or two ago that they canceled my card, because it hadn't been used recently. cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam

I was forced to use Care Credit when I had to take Poe in for his asthma attack to an emergency 24/7 vet clinic.

I do not have a major credit card, and did not have $600.00 to pay on my way out, so this was my only choice. I think they are shady in charging that interest rate. They play on people's desperation to treat their pets. They explained to me about the 6 month promotion, and although I plan to pay it off in 6 months, there is the chance that I can't.

The day will come I bet that if you can't pay upfront for medical care, they will turn you away, human or animal.

I've only used mine for larger services, and have always paid it off in 6 months and on time, so I've never paid them interest.

I also keep those deadline dates on my calendar, so I can plan payments in regular intervals. I don't like surprises, and have made it my mission NOT to pay a bank interest!
