Im new at this and this is my third reading.
He tested 75 at 5:30pm yesterday
Tested 90 at 11:30 pm yesterday
And this morning 320!

is 320 grounds to take him to vet asap?
What do i do from here?
I do not have any syringes yet. They will arrive today. In the meantime im nervous

Out with the dry food, low carb wet only, and hold off on the insulin, he might not need it. Our spreadsheets go up to 500, so no it's not an emergency. It's out of normal range, but I'm thinking that's because of the dry food.

Ok ty. Im getting rid of the dry food. Even though it says low carb i see now it has about 12% carb. I don’t think there is any safe dry food.
No more dry.
I will test again today and see how it is.
I appreciate this forum so much! It sure eases the anxiety of a nubie. Id do anything for my boy!

We go for less than 10%.
There's a few around 2%, still some experience it raises the BG.
If you're waiting on a response try updating the page, I replied in your other thread before this one. Sometimes the alerts doesn't show without refreshing the page.

Ok...makes sense.
He is used to being able to eat if im away from home. This is quite an adjustment for him but it’s for the better.
I wish canned food had a timer to open the can LOL

It would be very helpful if you could take a few minutes to set up your signature and a spreadsheet. The information is in this post on helping us to help you.

Issues like when it's safe to shoot (usually a number above 300 is fine) but a lot can depend on the context for the number. Is it a number that has dropped considerably from your last test or what insulin you're using or what approach to dosing you decided on. In most cases, experienced members who routinely open a spreadsheet before giving any advice will not offer input without a spreadsheet. (We're very number dependent.) Seeing the numbers insures that we're keeping your cat safe to say nothing of it allowing you to track your cat's progress.

There is a great deal of information about food on this website on feline nutrition. There's a chart on the website that lists out most of the canned foods available in the US along with information on their carbohydrates. Low carb is considered under 10% although most people use food that's in the neighborhood of 5%. It's also important to have some medium carb (10 - 15%) and high carb (over 15% like Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers) on hand in case you need to steer low numbers.

If you get a timed feeder, you can leave food out for when you're away from home.

This was super helpful!
Thank you. I will create that sheet.
They make a timer for wet food too?

There is a 2 compartment feeder that has space for an ice pack.

Another means of handling the food is to make "catsickles." You ad enough water to canned food to make it a bit soupy and then freeze the food in an ice tray or whatever will allow you to portion the food. You can leave a couple of the cubes in the feeder. As it melts, your cat will have fresh food. The extra liquid helps to prevent the food from drying out.

There are 2-compartment feeders as well as 5-compartment. I don't know if the 5-compartment ones have the space for an ice pack. My information may be a bit dated so you may want to post a thread asking for information on timed feeders.
