Bg still is good, but we had some naughtiness today...

Asher is a hoover cat and gets pesty some afternoons for food. We did give him his normal snack today but he wanted more. He knows what gets our attention so he does these things so we go out in the kitchen and get more chicken. On the list of naughty things is biting white apple computer cords and headphones (only the white ones, I guess he knows they cost more), knocking things off tables and my night stand, batting at Tom’s office chair...the list could go on....

Well today he tried something new, he opened the kitchen cabinet enough to dig out a plastic grocery bag. But he got his head thru the handle, got freaked, ran all over the studio and Tom’s office with it (it sounded horrible from upstairs), peed a little, and cut his paw. So we got him out from behind the couch and cleaned him up and calmed him down. He shredded this bag like crazy.

The cut on his pad doesn’t look too bad, it is a slice from, I think, his other back foot’s claw. I dumped hydrogen peroxide on it and then patted it dry. He is resting on the kitchen table now, we’re just gonna let him chill for a bit.

Any suggestions besides neosporin or peroxide for his pad? It only bled a couple drops, looks like a cut not a puncture. I was just concerned we get some anti-infective stuff in there right away due to him using his litter box, etc.

Never a dull moment....

A video like that could make money on YouTube!

I would just watch him and make sure it doesn't start bleeding again. (Call to vet is also always reassuring.) I was thinking about neosporin but think I read somewhere it shouldn't be ingested. Not a problem with ears, but feet are easy to lick....

I think I’ll stick to peroxide. My old vet told me it was ok if they licked it after you let it bubble a bit. And I did pat it dry so there wouldn’t be much left on the outside to lick. Just wanted to get it inside the cut so I kind of poured it on.

Yeah, we have only 4 video cameras sitting downstairs, but this def caught us off guard so no visual record of this mess at all ;)

Hydrogen peroxide is a molecule like this: H-O=O-H
- where H = hydrogen and O = oxygen

When half of the oxygen bubbles off, you are left with H-O-H ... H2O or water. So it won't hurt him to lick it after its done foaming off the extra oxygen atoms.

Thanks BJ! now that you explained it, I remember that is what the vet said, that it’s basically water and ok. Good deal.

And while we’re at it another mystery... Today at +9 he was 141. Now at pmps he is 71. There goes the schedule tonight ;)
Thought he was gonna be sky high due to all the excitement. I guess all that scrambling burned off some food or something.

Poor Asher, he's lucky he's got such a loving attentive mama bean. Bet the sight of him with the bag was priceless. Harley did that one with the plastic bag too when he was younger but he kept backing himself into a corner and then jumping when he bumped into something like it jumped out and bit him. So hard not to laugh at him...

Hmmm, Asher's been getting some really long duration out of his PZ, almost like he's on one of the L's. Cool.

Well, I'm glad he seems ok but I gotta tell you that story just made my day! Poor Asher!

I’d say we’re gettin’ some long duration :) It’s +14 and he’s 137. I had to feed them. Dunno what we’re gonna shoot yet. It turned out to be a wild day. I shot a job this morning and ever since I got home it’s crazy here. But the low numbers are good crazy. I’ll take that any day!!!!!

Maybe he needs to wear some baby socks on his feet until his cut heals!!! Let me know if you try it!

The plastic bag happened to one of my kitties once. Unfortunately, the kitty in question was Winkie. He was blind. Not funny, but actually it was. He completely freaked like Asher did, except he couldn't see where he was running. He was bouncing off the walls literally. We finally caught him before he could really hurt himself, but for the rest of his life, if he ever even heard a grocery plastic bag, he went into hiding.
He looked like the ball inside a pinball machine, and everything in the house was bumpers.
