Evenin' kids:
Just fillin' ya in on what’s goin' on here. Some meh numbers on 2.8 but I am tryin to be patient.

amps 228, shot 2.8
+9 228
pmps 241, shot 2.8

Glad he’s in the lower 200s but we can do better I am sure. Just wanna do better safely.

How long would you folks wait to go up to 2.9 or 3? (3.1 was what got us a 40 late in the day, a few days back...no hypo symptoms tho, thank god)

I'd give it another day. Overall, lower numbers at each point, but doesn't look like much of a drop compared to what you were getting some days on the 3.1. I'd see how he does tomorrow on 2.8, and if nothing changes, I'd probably go with 2.9 (I'd suggest 3.0, but that would be on "full moon" day) ;-)

But after looking a 2nd time at the 3.1 days, there were plenty of days on that dose where he was fairly flat. The difference is that they were flat blues instead of yellows. Just on some days for whatever reason, he decided he liked green and gave you good drops. Flat is okay if the color is right. I mean, a remission kitty is flat green every day, right? 2.9 may return him to flat and blue, with the occasional green highlights for excitement! You know this whole thing might just be a reaction to the two smaller doses he got back to back with the .6 and the 2.4. Maybe he'll return to normal after a few more cycles on 2.8 or 2.9

wow, that was a lot of help, huh?

Oh wow, it doesn't get much more meh than that, does it? I guess the PMPS could have been 228. (Weird how the numbers kind of match the dose?!?)

I haven't been following along lately, but I have no patience, so you know what I would do. Often if you get a slightly low number, you only need to shave off a teensy bit to get perfect numbers. Overreducing tended to be my downfall, when I finally stopped doing that was when I started getting consistently better results for Bix. I haven't looked at Ash's SS so I can't really comment for sure on what is going on in his case, just talking in general terms.

Joanna,
Asher had a couple of really exciting days last week which included running around with a plastic bag around his neck chasing him and ransacking the house, followed by a green PMPS.... fun times! HIs SS is quite colorful the past few days.

Well, this morning we woke to a 158 amps.....shot 2.8 again.
So things might be changing....

I’ll keep ya posted on what the day brings :) Touch wood and all that.

It’s a little scary but I’ll take it Sue. I would rather tiptoe with lower numbers than have him too high for sure. We are lucky we have a flexible job where we can be home a lot to test. And I have the karo upstairs and down, hoping we don’t need it.

One thing I was curious about and others might be interested in, we have done some experimenting with his snacks, especially overnight. I have been giving him one chicken snack between 2 and 3am for months now. But recently, we broke it up some nights and he gets two smaller snacks if I am awake to do it (I am a lousy sleeper).
I think his amps is a bit lower when he gets more than one snack at night. Dunno if this is just coincidence or not.

Who knows? He has always seemed like a kitty who might be influenced by food. I remember when the one snack overnight helped. Do you have an automatic feeder so you don't need to wake up at 2am? (It is amazing what FD parents are willing to do for their kitties!)

We do have an auto feeder, but for night I usually just “pack his lunch” of some frozen chicken hunks that thaw by 2-3am. Many nights he comes to me right on time and “asks” for his snack.

Donna, have you read about the "dawn effect" in recent posts with henry, i think?
Carl

I don’t know that Asher has dawn effect. His amps is a little higher usually but not greatly so...unless we are talking about one of those days where he goes to 40 at +10  Is there any other sign that a kitty has dawn effect?

Just seems like his numbers lately are better if he eats. I know some days I was a little afraid to take his bg because he had eaten some of his brother’s food, or pested for snacks all day, and really it hasn’t turned out to be that high. Dunno if his pancreas is working a little now or not.

If indeed a pancreas starts working, do I remember that the bg can go down after eating? Does anyone know how long after eating if this is the case?

Well, I don't think he's suffering dawn effect. What I think may happen is he goes pretty low during the night and a couple of small snacks lets him eat when he feels low. One snack gives him one boost. Two snacks lets him suppress the low twice.
The second snack might be what is giving hm a chance to calm down his liver enough to give you a lower amps.
I think with the pancreas you might see a rise within an hour from eating and a drop soon after, like within a half hour or so. But I think you'd only be able to catch that with no insulun on board. I've seen it advised to beans when they are thinking about doing an otj trial.

Well, we just finished having a snack and a flying saucer ride (rolled up background in the studio that Asher and his brother love to play on)

Our +5.5 today is 83. So we’ll be keepin’ and eye on the boy.

+7 98

Asher looks like hes having fun and feeling good! Great numbers too.
I agree with you about food/snacks. if Henry doesn't eat something between about 3-4 am hes higher for AMPS.
I don't think Asher has dawn syndrome but suspect Henry and one or two other cats here might.

Can I just say yay for pretty darn good #'s for Asher? I remember way back when he was in the pinks. I love that his dose seems to be coming down a bit, even if it changes the dance. Go Asher! Max seemed to do better with a little pre-dawn snack too. I read about the plastic bag incident...poor sweety. Looks like he had some fun today though.

Looking good (in more than one way)! Great numbers. Asher looks a lot like my Benny.

Oreo kitty. I like it. Both my boys qualify.

I love the pic...of course I love all of Asher & Alby's pics! He's looking good, including the number's he's been getting lately! :-D I can't believe you get up at night & feed him! I just leave some frozen out for all mine, I can't deal with getting up to feed them!

Don’t be too impressed, he comes up to me in bed (our bed is on the floor) and touches me, I roll over and put some chicken in a bowl on the floor for him and I go back to sleep. :-D

Callie tries to wake me up every morning around 4:30, I just pet her & go back to sleep. I'm afraid if I slept with food nearby I really wouldn't get any sleep!
