Well all I know for sure right now is she has a mass in her abdomen but they couldn't get a good look on xray so they are going to have to go in and see what they find. But she has no fever so not an infection. Just gotta wait until they call with what they find. Poor Cassanova, Arabella is his best friend so he's been wandering around crying for her since I got home without her.

Oh, no! Poor lonely kitties, and it's really a shame they couldn't get a good view without needing to open her up. I really hope it's something simple that can come out easily.

Re: Arabella is having exploratory surgery

Well after seeing the xray (ya they show me stuff like that) they were going to need to open her up to fix it more than likely anyhow because its about the size of a golf ball.

Mel,

Sending blessings and prayers for Arabella. Your little meezer girl looks like my Lilly(GA) I think. My god I hope its nothing serious. Could she have ate something at the new house?
Please update us when you can.

Re: Arabella is having exploratory surgery

Well here's a new one on me. When I got her she was already declawed so I assumed she was also spayed. Turns out she wasn't and had an infected uterus.

So they spayed her and keeping her over night and I'll pick her up tomorrow morning. Whew

Good thing they caught it. Pyometra can be fatal.

Re: Arabella is having exploratory surgery

So relieved about the news on Arabella. Blessings to you and all your furs - especially Cassanova as their sweet sister heals.

Re: Arabella is having exploratory surgery

I'm still trying to figure out what moron puts a kitten under to have her declawed but DOESN'T SPAY her!! I never thought about her not being spayed when I fished her out from my stepfather's car and saw she was declawed.

Re: Arabella is having exploratory surgery

Do you think she could have escaped from a breeder? Is she as pretty as her name?

Re: Arabella is having exploratory surgery

Oh we know she was dumped my stepdad watched the car throw out a paper bag and saw her run out of the bag and go under his car. I think she's extremely lovely. Let me see if I have a pic of her handy to post. She's a snow shoe lynx point meezer.

People are so... (no words)! Looks like a guardian angel was watching out for Arabella though cause she ended up being rescued by you, Mel. So glad that she's going to be ok and on the road to recovery. Feel better sweet Arabella!

Wow, that IS unexpected! I'm so glad you caught it and got her spayed. I suppose that's kind of a two birds with one stone situation, really!

We had the opposite problem with a stray we found. We took her in to be spayed (she was pretty young), and they shaved her to check for scars before they did it. No scar. When they opened her up, she had no uterus at all. They couldn't find any evidence that she'd been spayed, so they had to conclude that she'd simply never developed a uterus, though everything else looked normal. So weird.

YEAH so happy she is going to be ok dancing_cat dancing_cat :YMHUG: :YMHUG: o:-) o:-) ~O) :YMSIGH: Hugsssss (((Mel)))))Kath

Glad she's doing ok. My Midora couldn't be completely spayed as the wall of her uterus was connected to the wall of her bladder. They scooped her out like a pumpkin. While she couldn't have kittens, she could still get the urge. She used to sit at the door of my apartment and cry for the male kitty next door....
