Hi All:

As you have heard from me before my 17 yr old cat Sampson has multitude of issues. One of the most important to me right now is weight loss. My vet has just run another full blood panel and his thyroid is at a T-4 of 2.5 this time, his BUN is at 34 and his bg is at 198, which at home it has been lower. I haven't been able to get blood out of his ears since I put him the on the blood pressure medication (which is not really lowering it according the vision specialist). Been on 1/4 dose twice daily for around 3 weeks now. My regular vets reading was lower at 198 to 170, but my vet says he doesn't trust his machine.

Anyway all of this other stuff aside he suggested that I put him on a natural supplement of prozyme as he continues to lose weight. He has been treated for irriatble bowel. His vomit and diarreah are always yellow in color, which I have read means nothing is in his little stomach. I treat him with flagyl and budesonide (liquid) when it flares up. This meds usually only last for 3 - 5 days on him. It seems like he can only tolerate the beef & turkey fancy feast food with gravy. Has any used the prozyme for this problem and does it help? He has had this yellow stuff for over a year now!

Thanks,

Vicki & Sampson

I've used it. It's helps the animal obtain the nutrients from their food. It's VERY good stuff!

Here's an excerpt from their product description:
Prozyme replaces the essential enzymes that are lost during food processing or aging and allows your pets to absorb more nutrients that are present in their food.

Thanks I hope this helps him. This constant pooping every time he eats is really bad. My vet thinks that we are missing something, but we can't figure out what it is.
Anyone that has experienced this and has any suggestions - I would be forever grateful.

Have you had a test done called a TLI? I would do that test right away. It looks for a deficiency of pancreatic enzymes. Prozyme does not replace these. I would also test B12 and folate.

Probably not. We just had another full blood profile done Wednesday and I don't see these on it. Thanks will pass it on to my vet. Do you see a regular vet or are you going to a specialist to find these things.

Thanks,

Vicki & Sampson

It's a simple blood test that your vet can submit, the TLI/B12/folate are often packaged together. Best of luck and let us know the results.

Thank you very much. This is such a mystery. I have been giving him the prozyme for 2 days and today I fed them some chicken classic fancy feast, no yellow stool. But after he ate it he had a firm bowel movement but they are so long and huge. I know this sound gross but nothing seems to stay in his stomach. He eats and he poops it all out. So frustrating....
I will be talking to my vet again this week. I am beginning to think my vet may getting tired of me, but I need to get to the bottom of this. It's just driving me crazy that I can't seem to help him.

Thanks,

vicki & sampson
