Anyone recommend a vet in Vancouver BC

I live downtown and can say two things...

I do not recommend at all Atlas Animal Hospital. They repeatedly under or misdiagnosed Sundance. The don't even have all the necessary equipment - or they consider a blood pressure monitor unnecessary.

I absolutely love Yaletown Animal Hospital and Dr. Robert Spooner. There are other vets there who are great too. He was our main vet and he was really open-minded with what I was learning on this board - so he is familiar with it. And he worked WITH me regarding all aspects of her treatment. They have all the right equipment and their assistants were fantastic.

I have not been there since they moved around the corner from Smithe to Expo Blvd.... But if Spooner is still there, I'm sure it's still the best in town. I plan to take our new cat there for a checkup and dental in the next few months.

Ok... I just checked their site. http://www.yaletownpethospital.com/ The first three doctors, Robert, Deb, and Roxanne, were the ones who treated Sundance. Roxanne, bless her, was the one that had to tell me that Sundance was not improving and was the one that help me set her free. She was so amazing that day.

If you go there, try to get Spooner and tell him I sent you... He'll remember Sundance. If he doesn't, remind him she needed the helmet for her exams. :P

Best of luck.

Thank you for your recommendation Victoria. I will check into it and I too have not heard good reports of Atlas. I think they were involved with one of my coworkers cats. Someone found him, thought he was a stray, took him to Atlas, they tried to SPAY him, that or they though he had undescended testicles, can't remember. Crazy.

If anyone else wants to chime in, please do. (about a vet recommendation, not how bad/good Atlas is)

I've been taking my fd kitty to Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital at Broadway & Quebec for some time and the folks there are great. Kathy Kramer is my current vet. My previous vet left the practice recently and he was the one who guided me through the process of learning to live with a sugarcat. He introduced me to this board, explained everything so well, taught me how to do home testing and to trust my instincts with respect to Ramsey. As a result Ramsey is doing very well; he is regulated and neither looks nor acts his 15+ years. Best of luck!
