Anyone in MN, south of the Minneapolis/St paul area?

I have a Facebook friend in the Austin, MN area with a fairly newly diagnosed cat that is very nervous and I was wondering if there was anyone local enough that might be able to lend some help to her. She has tried food change on her cat for about 3 weeks and at first she went down a bit, but has now went back to the upper 300s. I told her IMO, getting her on insulin now would probably be best. Her cat is very fractious and home testing is difficult, taking 2 people and still only able to do once a week.

As we all are at the beginning, she is scared for her girl, nervous about the needles, testing, getting everything right and helping her baby feel better and I was hoping someone might be a bit closer to her than I am. If anyone is close enough that might want to make contact, maybe meet up with her and help her through insulin shots, etc, let me know and I will get you in contact with her.
 
Maybe give her my Secondary Monitoring Tools for now, while working on rewarding behaviors leading towards the ability to blood test.
There is an older protocol using water drunk, and urine testing that might do temporarily.
 
Thank you BJM, yes I have talked to her about monitoring "the cat" and other signs for problems while they are not testing and some ideas on how to try to get her more comfortable with testing. Since the kitty came to them as a feral older kitten, she has never allowed for too much handling.

I did look at the directory for MN peeps, many are no longer active around here, or are in the metro area and it is a jaunt for them.

Hello, all you MN peeps! \M/ if you happen to know anyone that gets farther south that might not be on the boards that might be willing that would be great too. I don't think this would be a big commitment, I think she is just scared and worried and with a vet that doesn't seem to know much about feline diabetes. She got the food change down all on her own. The needle part is scary as most of us remember.
 
Some of the "old-timers" are active on facebook so I sent a message there to another member in the area to see if her or any of the others are near enough. I think she knows Carol-Charlie and Amy'sWinston and Rob & Harley so she might be able to tell us if any of them are nearby too

I'm in the metro area too, in Excelsior, helloooooo new MN neighbors Jen&Eddie and taylor_hubbard.

Unfortunately Carol-Charlie are a little farther west of me and Amy'sWinston lives in Mpls. We have a member in St. Peter but that is still almost 90 miles away.

Since Austin is so close to the Iowa border maybe add Iowa to the subject line to see if maybe someone there might be closer.
 
If you click on Members in the upper right of the page, then sort by LOCATION, skip a number of pages and you may find some Iowa folks.
You can search posts for Iowa, then scan those who mention Iowa.
