Anyone familiar with Solencia?

Not diabetes, but cat arthritis related.

I saw an advertisement for this drug on Instagram, and today my vet mentioned it to help manage what we think may be arthritis related pain in one of my cats. I know it’s a new drug and it’s a monoclonal antibody, but wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with this medication. Thanks.
 
I’m thinking of starting this for my cat on June 6 when she has an appointment to talk about arthritis. My vet has her own cat on it and it has made a very positive difference in her cat.
 
My Daryl is 11 now. I adopted him at age 3 and he was healing from a massive shoulder injury while a stray (either got attacked by something or maybe it got ripped up by a car fan?) Cold laser only did so much, and his arthritis has progressed over the years. Recently he stopped jumping on things or climbing the stairs. I took him to the vet and she suggested Solensia. She uses it on her own cats, so that's what convinced me to try it. He had his first shot 3 weeks ago. I saw a difference by day 4. He's much more active now and looks happier, more alert. So far, so good!

Thank you for sharing this. I have cats that have suffered very traumatic injuries before I rescued them (cars, jaws or animal breaking bones, etc.) and they aren't there yet, but I do believe they will need something like Solensia to help them. Right now though, I do have a girl (my Darcy's sister) who has injured herself several times falling from high places and she has trouble walking some days and appears very stiff and has trouble with the stairs. I am strongly considering trying Solensia for her as I said that my vet also has been using this in her own older cat -- and I have questioned her about how the kitty is doing and if she's seen negative side effects in her cat. This is a very good post as it's so good to get feedback from people who are using it -- although we have to keep in mind that every cat is different and they may respond differently. My question is ... is there anything wrong with just using Adequan that has been in use for a long time already? I'm sure there is not a "one correct answer" here.
 
Howie started Solensia last Fall. We had done a course of Gabepentin prior to that and it seemed to not do much. The first few months of Solensia were great (especially after month 2). However, by month 5 (January) I just wasn’t seeing great effects. Nothing negative but he was moving slower, stiff, etc. He was also very squirmy laying on my lap. So I started him on Adequan (as well as Solensia) in February and now buprenorphine as of this week. I just hate seeing him in pain and trying any combination that will improve his quality of life for as long as I can. I’ve not had any GI problems due to the injections alone. Of course he was diagnosed with pancreatitis in Feb as well. So it’s been a struggle with that, arthritis, and acromegaly.
