My vet gave Eleanor an injection of Crystiben antibiotic today and I am wondering if anyone here has experience with this?
I googled it and the nearest I can find is Crystipen....Vet said Crystiben is a three day lasting penicillin, but I can't find any info on Crystipen injection lasting 3 days.

I found this article on Crystiben, but I don't see anywhere it says it lasts 3 days....everything I see says it should be repeated 2 to 6 times per day

  • In dogs and cats, the typical dose of penicillin G ranges from 10,000 to 25,000 units per pound (20,000 to 50,000 units/kg) two to six times a day.
  • The duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, response to the medication and the development of any adverse effects. Be certain to complete the prescription unless specifically directed by your veterinarian. Even if your pet feels better, the entire treatment plan should be completed to prevent relapse or prevent the development of resistance.

Crystiben is a brand name for penicillan G. As well as being available in different strength capsules, it is also available "in many different injectable concentrations." I would imagine maybe one of those could be a three-day dose.
