Last night I helped send Mommacat to the Rainbow Bridge. She is buried in my BF's backyard. I am quite a mess about it. She was only with me for eight months but I knew her from the moment she was pulled out of dumpster by my brother, feral and pregnant. I talked my mother into keeping her and even paid for her spaying. She outlived my mother by a year and three months. Today her kittens, Emmylou, Goofus and Morgan celebrate their 15th Birthday. Emmylou lives with me and is doing well after a 6-week treatment of Orbax.
The one thing that was helpful was that the vet was super nice and very caring and even hugged me afterwards. When she handed me a familiar poem about the Rainbow Bridge, I mentioned the FDMB and she was so excited that she pulled up the website and bookmarked it. She was very happy to have a helpful place to refer clients. She even showed me a condensed version of Dr. Pierson's foodchart that she produced for her clients. I am lucky to find this veterinary practice as they all advocate testing, low carb, raw and wet-food diets and now they know about the FDMB. I told her we would take good care of any newbies she sends to us.
It kind of gave Mommacat's life and death so much purpose.
