Anitibiotic question for gingivitis

I was wondering if anyone has an idea for an antibiotic for treating gingivitis. My cat Powder had his dental 10/19 and has been on two courses of clavamox since and his gums are still inflamed. The vet tried to get him to use Baytril but he spits it out and has severe drooling . Vet said he would try Baytril again if clavamox didn't take care of it. The last course was for two weeks.Has anyone had a tough case of gingivitis and if so what antibiotic finally worked? Thanks

Clindamycin (Antirobe) is frequently given for dental problems. However, it tastes nasty.

I gave Shadoe Antirobe after her dental and used a syringe to draw up cold Antirobe and tasty drained tuna water.
It helped to cover up the nasty taste of the Antirobe. I swear I saw Shadoe shudder a couple times and it made me think it must taste like Buckleys LOL
