Has your had anesthesia?

Did you cat have side effects?

If so what and how long did they last?

How long did it take tho clear from the body?

First I was told he was experiencing side effects of the anesthesia.

Then I was told the anesthesia wasn't out of his body. That was contradicted by vet saying anesthesia is only in body 24 hours.

Then I was told out was a reaction to the anesthesia.

I don't know if they would tell me the truth.

Thank you for any information you have tho share.

My cat never had side effects from anesthesia but side effects are not uncommon. Some cats become agitated --they pace, yowl, startle easily, etc. They may be ravenous but if they eat too much too quickly they vomit. The anesthesia may stimulate appetite but it also slows the GI track.

At least for humans, the effects of anesthesia -- especially in the case of surgery where you're under anesthesia for a long period -- can last for days. Cats' metabolisms are faster so they should clear the effects sooner. However, this will vary depending on whether there are other conditions present and the type of anesthesia and/or pre-anesthetic used. All drugs are processed through the liver or kidneys. If a cat has any condition effecting these organs, it may slow the the process of removing the drugs from the kitty's system.

my cat was just under anesthesia on friday for a tooth extraction. no problem at all and was alert after a short while. Definitely alert by the time I picked her up that afternoon.

I did have a stray cat that I had spayed that was groggy a bit longer, so I kept her an extra day before releasing her. she just looked sleepy and out of it that evening. fine by morning.

He had blood work and I was told his kidneys looked great.

I had hope for a moment.....thinking give it a couple days, he's had a couple days.

It took several days for Ducia but she was very weak and underweight. The ER vet told us that her body wasn't getting rid of toxins as it should, probably due to fatty liver condition she had at the time. Several days was longer than usual for an "average" cat.

How's Apple feeling today?

Having either a huge and weird pica moment or something's up
He's eating, not food and not his usual pica targets.

Today:
Blanket
Cardboard
Puffs of kitten's fur
Curtains

Oh, dear...
Do you think he is looking to compensate for any chem element his body might be lacking? human toddler were reported to lick/chew on wall's paint/ stucco when their bodies lack calcium..

Maggie had 2 dentals with no anesthesia problems, but the third time she was under for over an hour because she had many tooth absorptions. She hasn't been the same since. She seems to have lost some memories of us and some other elements of our relationships. This last dental was done by the "best dental vet" in the state, but I think he did something wrong.
