Hello all -

Thank you all for all your hope and suggestions regarding the repeated DKA episodes with my beloved Anabel two weeks ago.

After her last DKA episode last week, the vet did switch her to a different insulin. Unfortunately, no matter what we did, we just couldn't get her to eat on her own without medical "assistance" in the form of tubes, etc. We (and Anabel) and the vets tried so hard to figure out the underlying issues and fight through it, but in all likelihood we will never know what happened.

We were able to bring her home one last time last week, and she was very active, swatting at the others and curling up with me at night. Sadly, in the morning she was obviously feeling pretty miserable and we made the decision to let her go - we didn't want her life to be filled with more tubes in a cage at the vets. We take special comfort in the fact that we were able to bring her home one last time, and that she was almost "normal," and genuinely seemed happy to be home.

Thank you all for your support and suggestions, and bless you all and your beloved felines (and other critters!)

A very lucky special kitty to have such a caring and wonderful mom.

Sending lots of cyber hugs. I am so very sorry for your loss. Anabel is flying free now, whole and healthy over the Rainbow Bridge.

I am so sorry for your loss. As someone who recently lost the feline love of my life, I really believe that you were incredibly blessed to have that one last night with Anabel. wings_cat

Having lost my Kitty on Tuesday, who went down very quickly, I know exactly how you feel. You did not let her suffer and took her pain away and made it your own..
sending many hugs and shared tears

I am so sorry for your loss!

It is wonderful that Anabel was feeling good enough to come home for one last night. You did everything that you could for her. And when there was nothing left to do you gave her the greatest, and hardest, gift of all by setting her free.

Anabel will always live on in your heart!

Sending hugs and prayers...
