Hello,

I just gave a fur shot, I know because when I pet the spot immediately following, my hand was wet and I definitely smell like I'm covered in insulin.

Should I go about our normal routine as if it went in or should I give his regular dose or a reduced dose to keep up with the Lantus depot?

Go onto your normal routine, I believe as if some insulin went in, then the results could be harmful and cause more insulin to enter.........with a fur shot, we never know if any gets in so they say not to shoot again and shoot next round. Others will post as well shortly I'm sure.

I'll be around to monitor his blood sugar more frequently if it is suggested that I shoot again, both today and tonight

I feel your pain; I just did one this morning............ and the +4 test confirmed it. It happens to the best of us and this is my 2nd one in 6 days.

You never want to shoot again. My last fur shot was on 4/13 and go look at Bubba's cycle that AM. It was pretty darn good and I know I did a FS as the same as you, insulin on my hand and on his fur. We never know how much got into them. Safety first!

A part of me knows not to shoot again but I'm so disappointed in myself. We're really trying to get a handle on all the high numbers. I don't think his body has realized that it's getting insulin.

I know. FS always happen when kitty is really high or they are finally low. It just happens. We just have to brush it off.

Why do they always seem to come in groups? I could go months and then bam, a few right in a row.

Yes, not shooting again after a fur shot is the right call.

Hey, sounds like me with my speeding tickets, always in 3's and then I'm good for a while, then bang - I get a bunch more, LOL.
