Pamela, I did a search on what urine scalding was, I had never heard of it. Nothing was found for cats but did find this for rabbits.

After reading through it, I wonder if HALO Pets Derma Dream Natural Healing Salve would help. I use it on Gizmo's ears and it works wonderful.
Ingredients: Vegetable oils (soy oil, almond oil, castor oil, coconut oil, avocado oil), beeswax, squalene, carnuba (palm) wax, vitamin A (beta-carotene)-5,000 IU, vitamin D - 600 IU, vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) - 5,000 IU, calendula (marigold), aloe, comfrey, tea tree oil, myrrh gum oil and lavender oil.
I use for Amethyst ears also I think I am going to try it she is miserableI don't think zinc is good for kitties. That isn't good. Hope what you have works. I was thinking Zincofax...it is used for babies with diaper rash. Always keep some around for sun burns.

She had it last year around this time,I had a car then and rushed her to the hospital That is how I know she has it again, they gave her an ointment and powder I called our Mobile Vet she will call me back tomorrow but does not have any thing opened until Thursday Amethyst can not wait that longDidnt know that. Thanks.
Thanks LizzieDidnt know that. Thanks.
BagBalm is suppose to be wonderfulPoor baby. I hope the healing herbal salve will help her. I have used aloe vera sunburn relief ( CVS brand is cheapest) on my animals for different reasons with great results. The aloe is healing and calming and there is lidocaine in the formula which numbs and gives a lot of relief.
Good luck!

The quick answer is "yes" -- pain can cause numbers to rise. Any form of stress -- pain, illness, etc. -- causes the release of stress hormones and they raise BG numbers.
Take look at this post on Pet Wiki about incontinence and urine scalding. Vasoline is safe to use with cats. Also, if you have Neosporin with pain relief, that may also be an option. If you used honey, Amethyst is going to lick it off and her numbers will zoom up. (I would frequently use honey to bring Gabby out of low numbers.) The article recommends Desitin -- it's not appropriate for cats since it contains zinc.

ThanksI'm glad you found something! Neosporin also comes in an ointment vs a cream. The ointment is in a base that's more like Vasoline.

ThanksGlad something has helped relieve her discomfort.
