Excellent article, most informative I have seen. Should be included in the stickie list, let's hope one of the "folks in charge " reads this and agrees. Many thanks.

This is really good article, a bit long winded and could've definitely been pared down, but good information.
I must have an amazing vet because everything I read is pretty much what he told me in our
consultation appointment. When the insulin order came in, he asked to come in and plan to spend about an hour,
he showed me how to do the bg testing, the injection and went thru all of the information with me.

You sure do have a great vet, Mogmom! Mine stayed with me for about 10 minutes but I kept crying and was too scared to inject him, so the vet told me to go home and practice injecting an orange. It was very traumatic and I was terrified at first and didn't feel supported. There was never any mention of home testing bg levels by any of the vets I saw during the 5 years of my boy's diabetes, I learned about it from youtube and actually told my vet about it!

PS thanks so much for this wonderful article. I'm circulating it more widely among my own networks.
Thank you >^..^<

I have to say, I REALLY DO have an awesome vet. I have his cell number and have beed told by him not to go the emergency vet because they're so very expensive, if I need a vet at 2am to call him. He's very smart and always takes the time to explain everything fully. He didn't even charge me for my last appointment, I was there about 20 minutes.
