Alska doesn't seem to mind former foster kitten with foster mother cat being back for six weeks. I was able to let kitten out to roam the house free because all my kitties seem to remember her (they went to their furever home two days before Christmas). They pay absolutely no attention to her. I love how her new owner delivered their food and it is all pate canned food. When I asked if they were fed dry food, she said that she "does as she is told" and followed the instructions I put in their packet about diet so no dry food - VICTORY!!!!

It does mean a lot of musical chairs as I have to put Bing in the bathroom in order to get Mommacat out of Alska's testing room. Alska is getting more patient with this process... only running halfway down the stairs instead of all the way when he encounters the tough old broad coming out of his room or a closed door when he beats me up the stairs.

His numbers have been all yellows and blues thanks to Levemir (with only one scare @ 54 which I think was a meter error). I will update his ss soon.

Alska has also been very good with the litter box. He only uses the one downstairs now which is very private so I have to keep it very clean since this is also the one that my CRF girl uses. This means I can put the cheaper Elsley litter (instead of Cat Attract) in the upstairs boxes.

Woohoo for both Alska being good about his litter box habits and an even bigger Woohoo for kittens being raised on the proper diet...SCORE!

I wish it were this easy! I'm trying hard to find a diplomatic way to get my Neighbor-Henry to stop feeding my Cat-Henry dry food! Part of the problem is that Cat-Henry is manipulative and manages to con N-Henry into forking out the dry kibble by looking so sweet and adorable and forlorn every time he's given wet food. ohmygod_smile :YMSIGH:

ETA: Hey, Robin, another thing I just thought of: would you mind posting about your Lantus to Levemir experiences in this Think Tank post?

I think... no, I know that I would probably cave to Henry too. I have seen his face!!!

Alska is coping despite the annoyance of our guest kitten being in heat. She loves the boys and rubbing up against Alska will get you swatted.

Re: Alska SEPTEMBER: 25th AMPS=256

Okay that begs the question.......WHY IS SHE STILL INTACT?????? I've never let any of the kittens I've placed with adoptive homes go before they were spayed or neutered and very few rescues or shelters will either so now I'm curious since she was a rescue cat. Not only is that begging for another unwanted litter of kittens but also pyometry which can be life threating (lived through 3) and dang expensive to have the spay done with it. Normal spay price here $125 with a pyo $313!

Yes... I will be talking to the owners when they return and will offer to keep her and get it done and let her heal before I return her as long as they pay for it. Money is not a problem with them - it's time and logistics.

I know that there was some confusion with the paperwork saying she was a male. They renamed her Sabastian and then when they discovered she was a female they renamed her Sabastia. I call her Bashi. She was about 8 weeks old when they she was adopted and not at the proper weight to be fixed. The owners signed a promise document that says they will get her spayed. I think that they are a bit overwhelmed with their jobs and baby and just never got around to it. We see that a lot in the DC area. I hope they will let me help them be better cat-people. Petsmart does have a new policy that kittens must already be neutered before they can be brought in for adoption events. The other two sibling kittens were neutered at 3 months.

And they know how I get - I will hound them every day like I did about bringing them back for micro-chipping. I have their number and I know where they live

I am hoping that with my continued stewardship, they can become more attentive to the needs of these kitties.

Are you sure we aren't sisters? Because I'm the same way I will hound them to death until they alter their babies..lol I'm a pit bull in that department. I've even snagged my neighbor's indoor/outdoor cat and took her in to be spayed and she just 'disappeared' for a few days while she healed up because they were letting her run wild and lost 2 litters to fleas. Plus Polly loved me and would always come to visit so one visit just was a little longer than most. Don't think they ever realized that she was no longer coming home prego nor that she was now parasite free. Of course I have one here right now that needs to be spayed but I have to catch her first, she kind of came with the house...No she's not getting to move in (famous last words) but does seem to like living under our back deck and showing up for a meal every couple of days. But she's darn trap savvy. She's in really good shape for a feral so I'm thinking she probably does belong to someone around here but she had 6 kittens with her when we moved in and they have since vanished.
