When I bought my AlphaTrak2 in March, I thought the website promoted data download via a cable. I don't see this featured prominently anymore. E.g.: the apps now appear to be for mobile devices only. Does anyone here download bg measurements from their AlphaTrak2 glucometers?
...

Well, I paused and phoned Zoetis. They say they purchased AlphaTrak from another company and they did not purchase the download software. They would like to support the functionality in the future but they don't have it today.

Amazon sells a cable for the AlphaTrak. Does anyone know if that will still work with the AlphaTrak2 I purchased in March? There are no Amazon reviews post 2016.

Thanks!

If you don't have any software, it probably won't work. I don't know that for a fact, but a cable is just a conduit not something that tells the meter to download the info. Good luck though. I hope it works. Can't hurt to try it.

The Amazon reviews mention getting software support from the cable supplier. Some had issues but they didn't seem insurmountable. The software must still be out there. I am betting the monitor hardware hasn't changed.

You might try calling Abbott, the company that previously owned the Alpha Trak meters. They may have something that they could send you.

Well, I already ordered it. I noticed the cable seller also supports Abbott.
I guess I'll find out if it works.
My vet prefers graphs to the felinediabetes.com spreadsheet. I thought this functionality would make that easy.

Zoetis was always involved with the meter itself and bought back the marketing rights but I think the software is property of Abbott. It was probably modeled on the software for the Freestyle Freedom Lite meter. The cable is the same one used for the Freestyle Freedom Lite and Freestyle Lite meters. I downloaded a copy of the AT2 software way back when but never tried it myself. Seems to me that someone else tried it out (they got it from the same site I did) but they couldn't use it. Might be so old it won't work with the newer operating systems. The file is too large to be attached here. If you want to try it, send me a PM with your email address and I'll see if I can send it to you that way. :)

I think the cable company will give me a link to the software. If they don't, I will ping you! Thanks! The cable will arrive next week with instructions. The Amazon reviews say it works with Windows 10.

I tried to help dig up the software link back on an April thread and Jeff told that member to PM him. I found a possible one but it's one of those, if you click the wrong "download" button you'll install something you don't want :arghh:. I didn't, just hovered over each button. It's like they want to promote the AT2 meter but make it impossible to get the software

I have the zip file for the AT2 PC software but it's about 25MB so I don't know if I'll be able to email it or if you'll be able to retrieve it. I'm willing to try if you want to give it a go.

Do you find it useful?
Let's wait until I get the cable next week. Then you might hear back from me! We can probably find a better way to transfer it than email.
Thanks!!!

Once I got comfortable using the spreadsheet and my vet was happy with that format, I forgot about it and never installed it. Initially I thought I might use it but if memory serves (and that's questionable :woot:), it really didn't offer much more in the way of functionality except perhaps averages which you could easily add to the spreadsheet.

I like the spreadsheet. I don't think my vet likes it. We'll see. Yum is so regulated the vet doesn't really need to look at the curves.

I found the link to the AT2 software but it's a dead link now as Abbott closed their Animal Division. If Yum is regulated and the vet isn't very involved in the diabetes treatment anyway, I'd make him suffer through.;) Was the vet the one who suggested the software?

I was hoping the vet had the cable and the software. Instead, they'd never heard of it. One of the techs got interested and found the new mobile app software, but that was it. They asked their Zoetis rep for information and just got app documentation.

Everything seems to be about being able to run everything in your life on your phone these days. I like my phone for a lot of things but filling in numbers and whatnot in an app on that tiny screen is NOT one of them! I had a hard enough time filling in my spreadsheet on a 10" tablet when I was away and getting readings through email from the friend looking after my girl. I guess I'm just getting old! :p

This is the cable I ordered and it worked. It is basically USB to audio 3.5mm. There is probably a chip inside for the protocol conversion. They should have designed it for USB (computer) to mini-usb (AT reader).

I have a copy of the AlphaTRAKer software. PM me for a copy. I don't use the software. I found the fdmb spreadsheet to be a more flexible method of maintaining records in google sheets. The AlphaTRAKer software comes with a pdf user guide.

After the software is installed in windows, it installs a user interface so you can interact (barely) with the attached device through their driver. Kinda silly that they do not provide the software on the web. Pics:
- the installed content into c:\program_files\AlphaTRAKer on windoz

Thanks! I am waiting for the same cable. If the seller can't supply me with the alphatraker software, I will ask them and amazon why they are selling an obsolete product. And I will try to get a copy from you or Mr. Worfmen's Mom. Sounds like it might not be worth the effort.

I will ask them and amazon why they are selling an obsolete product.
It may seem obsolete but there must be folks out there who are still using the software from when Abbott was marketing the meter/software and their original cable has been lost or stopped working. Often times for older products it's hard to find replacement parts so they are in reality filling a need but also causing confusion due to Zoetis now taking over the meter and not providing any software with which to automatically download the readings into a PC.

Yes, I had thought through this replacement argument. I am hoping they have a secret copy of the software to placate me. Maybe amazon did say there were only 10 left. The cable won't arrive until Thursday.

The tiny.cc/alphatraker address still works to get and download the AlphaTRAKer software.

The software/driver for the EZSync cable (FT232R USB UART) will be found by your Windows computer under Windows 10.

More information if requested.

Yes. Thanks. I've been using mine since last July. I will add: the meter only hold 250 measurements in memory

Do you know if there is a way to clear the memory. I tried to look it up and did not find anything at first glance. It's easy enough to transfer the information to the AlphaTRAKer program with the cable.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. The meter holds 250 measurements then overwrites the old ones. You don't need to reset the memory. I got around to doing the first download long after I had taken 250 measurements, which was a disappointment.
