Alphatrak to Relion Conversion

Hello!

I have been using the Alphatrak for years - mostly 2 but recently switched to 3. I just bought a Relion Premier, mainly for cost.

I know how to interpret numbers on the Alphatrak (125 = great! 60 = bad!) but want to know how those translate to Relion. For example, if I get 150 on Alpha, what would the equivalent be on Relion?

I haven't used it yet and know I will need to compare. I still have Alpha 2 and 3 strips and have been comparing those for the past month or so, but that has not been helpful as sometimes 3 is lower, sometimes higher. I was hoping for more consistency. So I will likely be comparing the 2 to Relion to start.

I have been searching all morning and all I have found is that 50 is the take action number with Relion.

Thanks for any guidance!

P.S. I have not updated my ss in eons - don't look!

There is no direct conversion between a human meter and the AlphaTrack. When the initial journal article on Tight Regulation with Lantus was published, the point where you give a dose reduction is below 50 with a human meter and below 68 with the AT. Beyond that, there's not conversion. Part of the difficulty is that the spread between the numbers increases as the blood glucose numbers get larger.

One of the moderators, @Marje and Gracie, did a comparison between meters some time ago. The conclusion is that it's best to stick with one meter or you will drive yourself crazy.

Thank you. I had a feeling someone would say that but I did not know about the spread increasing with larger numbers. It's already driven me a little crazy and I haven't even tried it yet!

Thanks for responding - I am forever grateful for this resource.
