Hello all. ~O)

In less than a month Noxin will be 2 year off the juice.

Here is a link to his last condo:

And then his OTJ party April 27 2011:

Thanks again everyone from FDMB and the Lantus board! Thanks to all your support Noxin has been happy and playful and grooming for 2 years with no issues. I think he does miss his daily ear poke time though since that meant extra special attention, treats and play time. He still comes running to his testing spot when I open the drawer there where I used to keep the meter and strips.

I've actually popped back on for the first time in a while because a family member had a cat who had lost weight over the past few months, and I brought over a spare meter and gave them a poke only to get a nice high number. I may be back soon with some questions to refresh my memory, and to help her get her cat set up on a tight budget. We should be able to do the first curve on our own after a vet visit to rule out any other issues right?

Hope everyone is doing well.

What a great report on Noxin!! Congrats!! I love how good an example he is for vets who think our cats will hate us for giving ear pokes.

Let us know how we can help your family member. Make sure the vet rules out any source of infection, including dental issues.

Hi Cherie! Congratulations on almost 2 years OTJ! I'm so happy to hear that Noxin is doing well.

Sending good vines to your family member's kitty. Getting the cat to the vet is an excellent idea. High BGs can be caused by other stressors. Hopefully it is something minor, like a dental or something, that can be easily remedied. As far as running a curve, yep, you should be able to do it at home. The vet may want to run a fructosamine test just to determine how long the kitty has been in elevated numbers, which wouldn't be a terrible idea, but may not be necessary if the cat is given a clean bill of health otherwise.

If the kitty needs to start insulin, running a curve at home for a cycle or two before starting the juice is a very good idea. Good luck!

Thanks Cherie for the update on Noxin. I'm about 3 weeks new here and you're post gives all of us hope that someday our little sugarcats will be able to meet you at he Falls.

Hi guys, what a great update! Mocha just celebrated her two year OTJ annifursary and also loves her pokey time, as she loves her treats from it! I hope that the vetty visit can tell you what's going on with the other kitty .. you know we'll be around if you need help!

Thanks everyone. It's good to see so many familiar names.

I think I will try to get her into the vet in the next couple days, help her switch to low carb right away, and then see if she is okay with me helping her run a curve on friday.

Someone had posted a discount for lantus pens in another thread. Does anyone know if that offer is valid in Canada, B.C. in particular.

Also, one thing that seems to be a big change is that there now seems to be a viable dry food low carb option out there now- Young Again Zero Carb dry food?

This might be good for their situation to compliment the low carb wet food as she has two outdoor cats. I believe it was something you ordered online. Any Canadians have experience with ordering from the company?

Oh, also someone had posted some contour offer, so I'm going to look into that. Especially since I have really enjoyed my contour meter.

Any other advice to refresh my memory or on how to operate on a VERY tight budget would be welcome.
