She’s happy. Tomorrow she gets a vet visit to remove stitches. I wish I knew exactly what question to ask about her cancer. I want to make sure appropriate staging is done....??

I am exhausted. Bad insomnia all night. Other CG did a better job today. I think it is just easier for CG to piece together when it’s sinple and spot checks are all that is needed, but not in potential lookout for emergencies.

They should have the oncology report determining stage (which is how far has it progressed) and grade (which tells you how aggressive it is). If they haven't indicated any lymph node involvement that that is usually stage 0/1. Though sometimes the size of the tumor is taken into consideration. The lower the number the better. Again the lower the number the better. There is grade 1, 2 and 3. Further to that is the actual type of cancer - the structure and characteristics of the cells. Some mammary cancer are really slow moving and require no further treatment than removal, others are a little more aggressive and constant checks are needed with optional chemotherapy or radiation treatments.

She looks very alert and recovering quite quickly from her surgery! Chin rubs for your sweet little girl.

ETA: And some sleep vines for you. :bighug:

Grade 2 Adenocarcinoma, I did read it has some lymphovascular infiltration.....

@Tracey&Jones (GA) thank you. I am very lost. Histopathology report recommended follow up with an oncologist but we get DCIN help and my vet is not aware of a board board certified oncologist in Oklahoma. Kansas State or Texas A&M would be my closest bets. :(

I don’t even know what measures should be taken to monitor her for additional cancer. Vet did not remove the whole right mammary chain and literature I have read recommends this. But now that she is spayed she won’t have the hormones feeding it either.

PMPS 272, very yellow day through-and-through. If she does not show significant change from that tonight when I do +2, then I will try to more heavily medicate myself to sleep, sooner. Last night ruined today, sleep-wise.

+2 is down by 62 points/numbers/whatever I should call them. (210 from 272). Fed only 5%.

Can someone please tell me if it will be safe to leave lots of food out and take some medication? My sleep pattern is flopped backwards right now and I can’t get anything done this way. Can I sleep for maybe 5-6 hours and get up and feed again at +8 or +9?

That's a decent drop for so early …...I know how much you need to get some sleep, but since you gave insulin tonight, I'd try to at least get 1 more test unless...….

There's NO reason you can't carb her up either.....give her a bunch of gravy food and abort the cycle so you can get some sleep!!

Is that okay to do? “Abort the cycle” ? She’s doing that hey come back here and hang out with me all night meow again too. I know she has food. Sigh.

It will be +3.5 soon (17 min) so I will recheck.

She typically has a pretty voracious appetite so I also know she will eat if she feels like she needs to as long as there is food to eat.....

Good call because +3.5 was down to 165, gave 2-3 decent Tbsp 13% w/gravy (and extra 5%), medicating, will be back to check on her when everyone else is already up! At our +8-9 :)

Plus Miss Meowliss is not at all unhappy about the gravy treat. :cat:

Adding, also gave a bit of pumpkin in case the wheat in the gravy bothers her tummy. I’ve been adding a bit of pumpkin on top of each Sheba snack too because after the day where she had mostly only Sheba and had diarrhea.... I figure it’s worth a try.

Her fecal score is consistently better lately, with a few bowel movements that are way too soft and sometimes some ropy looking ones or less bile tone (what helps make it brown, normally)...... but overall a million times better than a few months ago. :D

Just like us....need to do the boob check.

Every check up Sadie had her "booby check" by the vet. I would take her in even when it was her sister being seen and the vet checked her every time for me. I would feel her up every month when I did my monthly check. When it returned (we caught it really early due to these checks - they were the size of grain of rice)....we took everything out that time. It was a different type of mammary cancer the second time but there was not chance of it returning after that. It is a rough surgery and very painful after. Took about a week for her to "recover" to the point of being somewhat normal.

I wish they would just remove everything once it is suspected that there is mammary cancer. One surgery and one recovery. Not further mammary glands to become cancerous!

Me too!!! I wish they would remove it all. So that’s the checkup thing, what about how I figure out if it is spread at all?

Starting today’s condo now...
