Not much new with Alex. The vet techs really don't tell you too much. His last couple BG #s were in the mid-300s. Ate some last night, but not much.
The internist is supposed to call with another update today.

DKA is very hard on kitties. Alex has achieved the first step in recovery---stabilization. It takes time for their bodies to recover from the toxic state DKA creates. He will continue to improve, it just takes time.

When Kitty came home, for a couple of weeks she still was really off. It is fair to say that it took Kitty longer than a month to get back to herself. Hopefully it doesn't take Alex this long, but full recovery can be lengthy.

Continuing to keep you and Alex in my prayers.

Sending good thoughts for you and Alex.

It's very good that Alex is able to stay in the hospital and get stabilized. When Argyle had her first DKA episode this winter, she was sent home after two nights, and ended up back in the hospital with another DKA episode five days later.

It's probably going to be a lot of ups and downs as Alex gets back on track, but hang in there! If he isn't eating well in the hospital, maybe he doesn't like their food. You could ask if it would be ok to bring in some of the food he eats at home.
