I increased Alex's dose yesterday to 1.2 and yesterday before the PM shot, he was at his lowest of the day, 211. I wanted to test before we went to bed, but I let my hubby talk me out of it.

This morning, we're at 343. Do you think bounce maybe?

Maybe his liver reacting...who knows? It would be interesting to know what he was during the cycle!

Have a great day!

My in and out the door are very close to shot times, but I should be able to get a test in before bedtime.

Also, so you know, I still haven't given up on the idea of the BCP PZI. I called my vet back and asked what he had found out. The price was less than the ProZinc and the sample came in u-100 form. Did I still want to try it? YES (and if he had ordered it when I asked him to, it would already be in).

The vet has ordered my BCP PZI free sample, but because it's a free sample, they won't send overnight. They said it could take up to a week.

So how are they going to keep the insulin on the proper temperature? It's being shipped from Houston (hot place) to Cincinnati (it was 96 degrees yesterday).

I have the pharmacy's number. I gave it to my vet.

On the free sample deal, the vet is allowed to choose up to 5 products, one of which is my insulin. I guess since it is free stuff, they don't want to incur the additional shipping cost.

On BCP's website:
Storage: Refrigerate BCP PZI® as soon as you receive it. Do not allow the medication to boil or freeze. Our BCP PZI® insulin has a “neutral pH” which gives it much greater temperature stability.

I assume if they're giving out free samples, they're not going to send insulin that would "spoil", otherwise people wouldn't want to buy.

They open up in a few minutes. I might give them a call.

OK, I called BCP. It doesn't take a week to ship it, it could take 1 - 4 weeks before they fill the free samples orders. The vet got that twisted around. Regular paying customers get priority and free samples are last in the queue. I think I'll go ahead and have the vet call in a real prescription. I'm getting low on the ProZinc vial and the new stuff probably won't be less effective (knock on wood) than the current stuff, so I'm willing to pay the $100 to get it started--maybe in time for the weekend.

4 weeks! ohmygod_smile Hmmm, and they are sending the samples to try to promote their product? LOL, maybe that's why more people don't use BCP PZI!!! You think they'd send every vet in the country a few sample vials and ask them to try them with their clients.
