Hi! Thank you anyone who can help. I read this site's page that had feedback from several people regarding monitors they like...one is very difficult to find, etc. Also just found the 2016 Consumer Report list of most highly rated monitors that someone posted in the helpful resources section of this forum. Looks like the Bayer Contour Next would be good...and second the Freestyle Lite 1....but I realize the high ratings would be based on use for humans...not the intricacies of successfully testing a cat! Anyone have recommendations on either monitor? Going to start by trying ear, if not will try paw pad...so would be best to have one that is easy for either? I'd like to buy one locally at a pharmacy rather than a difficult to find one that I have to order.

Not sure which one you're thinking is difficult to find

It also matters where you live, but if you're in the US, you can't beat the Relion Confirm or Micro from WalMart....the meters are about $15 and the strips are very affordable at $35.88 per 100...and if your WalMart is open 24/7, you can get strips anytime you need them

They take the tiniest blood sample too

In the world of blood glucose meters, it's the price of the strips that's the most important....everything else can be dealt with. The only meters we tend to stay away from are ones with "True" in the name....they aren't as accurate as some others
