Hello all,
Littles diarrhea and Inappetence has returned after being off Metronidazole for 2 weeks. Waiting on a call from the vet for what do next but in my research I see it could be a food issue.
Can anyone recommend the best readily available novel protein food that is safe for diabetics? I have some Weruva “lamburgini”. But I see the first ingredient is TUNA not lamb. Need something I can get at the store or through chewy. Thanks in advance
Also- did get S Boulardi but since she’s not really eating can’t get it in her :banghead:

If Littles will eat raw, you can easily pick your protein. I am able to source pork, lamb, bison, and venison at the grocery store. There isn't a local butcher that has game or other meat that would be a novel protein. I add EZ Complete from FoodFurLife, which is a premix that supplies all of the nutrients to make a complete diet.

I also use ZiwiPeak -- they have canned venison, lamb, lamb and rabbit and all are low carb and do not contain any gums or carrageenan. They do use green lipped mussels for omega-3 which may not be ideal if Littles is sensitive to fish or seafood.

We are feeding Callie mostly raw now but we were giving her canned Rawz rabbit pate https://rawznaturalpetfood.com/product/96-rabbit-recipe/ and Koha limited ingredient rabbit pate https://kohapet.com/collections/limited-ingredient-diet-pate when she was first diagnosed with FD. Both were recommended to us by a cat nutritionist. I think that Koha uses green lipped mussels (like ZiwiPeak) but Rawz doesn't.

We were looking specifically for rabbit but they may have other novel protein options as well.

Ugh. .. Rabbit? I know this sounds crazy but I am a vegetarian and the thought of Rabbit freaks me out. Little also spends most of her day looking out the window watching Rabbits and squirrels. I know. Crazy mama. Probably can’t stomach the thought Of Venison either. I can barely get over Lamb. Yep - I’m a freak. That said she’s not a big raw girl and even cooked human meats are a no go mostly. SMH. Sorry I’m a weirdo

Nature’s Variety has some limited ingredient novel proteins, as does Identity. Freeze dried raw is another option, just add water and serve. It doesn’t look as “meaty”. Duck, quail, kangaroo, goat. Lots of other proteins out there.

I am also a vegetarian and my cat Max has to eat rabbit novel protein cat food. He has so many food sensitivities. I just try not to think about it. I’m weird too about that though.

What is the carb % dry and as-fed on the Rawz rabbit food?
