? Advice on BG Meters from Amazon

Financially I'm in lousy shape. One generally reliable resource I currently have are Amazon credits. Friends and family have given me $100 in Amazon GCs, plus I twice a year I get between $60 and $70 in credits for participating in a study.

It would help me greatly to be able to buy a BG meter and the needed strips with that resource instead of having to pay out of pocket even through a place like Wal-Mart (I'm not a fan of that store, to say the least).

Currently I've been using a OneTouch and have been fortunate about my supply of the strips.

But I'm down to less than 40 strips left and even on Amazon the cost of those strips (along with questionable reliability according to reviews) makes using my credits cost prohibitive.

I'd appreciate any suggestions and recommendations about affordable meters and strips available through Amazon.

I use the Pettest meter and strips. I bought it to keep as a spare in case my Alphatrack had problems. I liked the Pettest meter much better than the Alphatrack. The low numbers are much more dependable. The strips cost $39.99 I am a Prime member, so I get free two day delivery. With using so many strips, I can afford these strips.

I like that there is no coding and it takes AAA batteries.

How many strips do you get for $39.99?
 
I mostly use a Contour meter and (when I was going through lots of strips) would get relatively cheap ones on Amazon. I just checked and both the Contour and the Contour Next are going at about $25/100 strips. One disadvantage to the Contour (don't know about the Next, but I'd guess it's better because it's newer) is that it needs more blood than some, so you do waste some strips that way.
 
I used alpha Trak 2 meter I would run out of strips quickly. THey are $60.00 for 50 strips. I went to Relion Confirm $10.00 for the meter and $19.99 for 50 strips. much better.

Question..... I was wondering I keep hearing about curves. how do you do curves?
 
I get 50 strips for 39.99. Sometimes I can find them cheaper if I shop around and don't mind waiting a long time.

A curve is when you test every two hours to see how the insulin is working and to find the lowest point.

I'm not finding the test strips for $19.99 on Amazon. Do you have a link?

You might want to post this question independently. I haven't done one yet and still consider myself too new to give instructions.

Ah, okay. I'm specifically looking for things I can get from Amazon so I can make use of my credits and gift cards.

As I stated in my opening post, my financial situation is lousy and anything I can do to avoid physical out of pocket expenses is mandatory.

I spoke with someone at the company that makes the Contour and they said the Next does need less blood. Thinking I might give that a try with the starter kit at less than $25 including 50 test strips. Frankly, the whole kit with those strips is less than I'd pay just for the same amount of OneTouch test strips.
The downside is that I'd be going from the top rated BG Meter to one that's not even on CR document someone uploaded a few days ago.
