Angel's mommie

Member Since 2017
Hi everyone. I have had a crazy work schedule for the past few months, but -- phew -- am now free and have till about July 10 to try to get Angel into remission (long term diabetic), as I need to leave for India to be with my mom then. I don't feel as if I'm getting anywhere and am a bit disheartened at this point. This is my one window to try to get him into remission, as I'll be back to work when I return from India -- needless to say I'll go on working with him then, although I will probably try to stop achieving remission and just accept that I have a diabetic kitty then, who needs testing a few times a day + insulin for the rest of his sweet (and hopefully very long) life.

What I need help with is: please, could you take a peek at his SS and let me know what my next move should be re dosage for Lantus? I've been testing, although not 5 times a day many days 'cos of work and other commitments. Some of you have been incredibly kind and supportive, so I'd love some help from y'all kind, supportive folks, please :). Thank you.

Glad to hear your life is calming down a bit workwise. Can you get a test in the PM cycle, other than PMPS? It's very important to get that part of the picture, as kitties often go lower at night. Even a +2 or a before bed test will fill in a lot of the missing information.

Without nighttime tests it does look like Angel needs more juice, but if you can get night time tests for the next two nights and don't see below 50's, then I'd increase back up to 1.0 units. Normally I'd say do a 0.25U increase, but I don't know how big a <1 dose is.

When a kitty is back on the juice after remission, and a long term diabetic, you do have to be a bit more aggressive, as long as you can monitor and keep him safe while you do so. Sounds like you might have the time in the next little while. Long term kitties also earn reductions by going below 40 (not 50), though some people do the 3 times under 50 rule.

Thank you, Wendy and Neko! Will get the PMPS for the next two days, and later, if possible. A <1 dose is just under a 1, but not quite a .75. Angel and I very much appreciate your help :cat:. Will report back tomorrow!
